from a collectors point of view that would be a great job, search all day for rare stuff that is not allowed and then quickly close the auctions after having made a bid with a secret account, now you are the last and highest bidder and you can safely buy things ;-)

maybe i should apply for the job ;-)

xbox, this time. Was quite surprised, first time i'd tried a xbox. PS2 i've had closed, but i reposted. Nintendo are the most hard assed, i sold a modchipped one and they just didn't let it last. :matrix:

I think someone at ebay must be watching my listings. Won't immediately relist when i get my account back.

In my (limited) experience, I've found it depends how you word it

lol, i think you've got to be pretty gullable to believe its real. I can't believe ebay closed his other auction.

once again, more of ebay being retarded when it comes to their policies.

I started ebaying last week (actually the week before that, but, oh, well...) because I wanted to have the 10th DVD in the Arkoff Film Library to complete my collection for this site. The other 9 I could buy cheaply in local DVD stores, but the 10th wasn't available anymore and out of print according to the biggest DVD store in Amsterdam. I'd have to look on the internet for it, said the counter guy.

I did and found one on ebay, but the auction was already closed. After having tried to contact the seller (I could only do so after having waited 3 days and having added a creditcard to my account) I asked him if i was still avaiable. I got a dream reply:

"I still got one, and for 5 Euros it's yours."

This transaction went via normal banking (I don't like Paypal so much) and I received the DVD after two days. Perfect.

At the moment I'm bidding on several DVDs among which are some Video Nasties and some Argento movies.

@ spud: what about that esteal site? What does sniping just before aution closing mean?

it means basically you don't put a bid in until the last possible moment, hoping to out bid every one by rapidly firing off incremental bids up to your maximum.

The point being it prevents people artificially testing the boundaries and also edging up their bids just to outbid you when you make a bid. Your bid isn't registered until the last 10-20 seconds before the end of an item, and the snipe server will keep increasing up to your maximum.

Sometimes sniping can be buggy though, and if the timing is off it might miss a bid.

I haven't used a snipe for quite a while, the sites i used to use have all shut down or changed their T&Cs.

I've had that happen to me loads of times, thought I'd been winning something right up to the auction closing. Sometimes I wish I could track down the bastard in the real world and show 'em what a sniper is in the traditional sense. :matrix:

..bought several thing on ebay including

2x Numark TT100Pro Turntables (replacing stolen ones and thank god for ebay too as they were a limited edition of 5000..)

A "Buddy Christ" figure from Dogma (cheaper than going to New Jersey)

Various PC components (motherboard extras are damned hard to find outside DELUXE packs)

Numerous swords and other knife type stuff (before i hooked up with the the suppliers in china)

....and things i hate about ebay....

..UK located items being stated as "Hong Kong", which isn`t even TECHNICALLY part of the UK anymore and hasnt been for ages...

...items with a auction start price of £0.01 and a "Buy Now" of £1000 or similar... (like it`ll stay that low in a million years....)

..item pictures cribbed from amazon.. (i want to see what THE ONE I`M BUYING looks like not some random one off the net.)

....and obviously the "FREE IPOD/PS3/XBOX" garbage... (..just complete the five offers...and get five of your friends to.... HATEFUL)

...theres probably more but i`m tired and angry now so...

I can imagine that. I actually thought it would mean that, Spud. I think it's not very nice to use it, as there are people who bid normally on an item and then it gets sniped away from under their noses. The name of the site is chosen well: eSTEAL.

I guess the moral of ebay is 'Bid late and bid your max'

A DVD arrived today in the mail. The DVD itself was OK, the price was very low, the box was a slimcase, which disappointed me a bit. One corner of it stuck out of the envelope, which is not very good packaging-wise of course. Should I give this guy a positive feedback or a neutral? I didn't get any feedback from him yet.
