Most people spend way too much time trying to fit in, or even worse, trying to impress people, I prefer people that know who they are and are comfortable with it.

Pretty often other people gravitate me towards the same people you mention here. I don't mind, I know all the cliches (fyi: I have long hair and a piercing in my nose).

FYI I have my ear pierced and very short hair, though this is partly due to it being low maintenance, and the rest is because piercings, long hair, baggy clothes etc.... can all prove very dangerous in my line of work.

I work as a ground man for 2 tree surgeons. I do not operate the saws, not qualified, but I do operate a fucking great chipper, it will easily destroy a limb. I have got snagged a few times before and it really is scary, that is why I wear nothing with any real bagginess in it.

Come the summer and I will probably get my saw certs and tree climbing/rescue certs too, then bagginess would be a huge problem.

I have had many close calls, the last was a few weeks ago when a ton of wood almost got me.

Wow, your job sounds quite exciting! Close calls are scary, but they give some edge to life.

I can wear whatever I like to my work, except for really obnoxious shirts (I mean, my Slayer T-shirt has a picture on it that will not be appreciated, I'm sure). I get payed by the government, but to say I work for them wouldn't quite hit the spot, as people who are employed in my line of work are usually very critical about that same government. I have different working "hours" as most people. There's another hint that would make it real easy, but if you read carefully, you can guees it by now.

Oh btw: most of my colleagues are payed by the government, there are only few exceptions in my country, I think.

Just kidding, I think you right, but gives a shit? I think the "underground" is the coolest people in the world. We express ourselves in clothes, long hair, tattoos, piercing or else... I never saw a terrorist or politians with this description. That kind of people that scares me!

Cursed myself saying how dangerous my job can be, a large log hit the ground end first and tipped sideways, right into me. Luckily just bruising to my arm and shoulder, but the cracked and bruised ribs fucking hurt.

Currently a bit dosed up on painkillers, but back in action in a couple of days. I fix quite fast.
