When I was young, 7 or 8, a friend of mine found his parents stash of pirate and banned movies. Gotta say DOTD was an eye opener that got me hooked. Within weeks I had wath Evil Dead, Nightmare on Elm street, all the sweet stuff.

Never really liked anything else, other than sci-fi. Nowadays I just watch horror, sci-fi and lots of science orientated progs.

Not sure what made me stranger than most folk around me, a mixture of my upbringing with dodgy films combined with a high IQ that skewed the way I saw the world. I was worrying about all the worlds woes at a young age.

Seriously though, telling the visiting Vicar that his God is false is not recommended. Also, stating religion is for people with an empty life pissed him off, mind you I was only about 9 or 10 LOL Never really got religion myself. Ooops going off topic, will shut my trap now.

Why be Normal

Well, i watch em simply cos i like em. More that those big-budget blockbusters. Those kind of movies prove that you dont need lots of money to make a good, watchable movie.

1- nothing to watch on regular tv cables.
2- instead of doing the sick things in reality and go to jail i can
sit back and enjoy the same acts legally.
3- they make me laugh.
4- its more important what's in the inside than the outside .

and a couple of more reasons i cant recall atm

the first experience about horror was the scene from Elm, when freddy kills the guy dragging him on the ceiling and dropping back to the bed, i was kinda 6 or 7 then and i woke up in the middle of the night. it was a pretty deep pressure, i think the love (and the mental problems) started then.

Scat and vomit are things I have seen, but not a fan in the slightest. Merely seen some of the numerous clips online.

I like who I am now, just sometimes wish I did not think so much about everything, drives me crazy.

I'm pretty open minded (I'm Dutch, but that doesn't explain it all ), but I can't see the fun in scat and vomit stuff. Hereby I'm assuming that the vomitstuff looks more or less the same as the scat stuff, the latter being the only one of the two of which I have seen some pictures online. Like Takyon I'm not a fan (I'm pretty f**king far from being a fan) and my question is: does anyone have an idea why this is fun for some people? Is it the shock value? Is it because it's so damn dirty that some people get turned on?

I have seen loads of weird stuff, and while I can imagine (sometimes only in the slightest way) that there are people who like that, or even get turned on by it, some things are beyond me. Weirdest thing ever: a guy who got horny over bills he got sent from a hotel where he never spent the night. He had just called the hotel that there was still money to be payed for such and such a family, in order to get that bill so he could get horny over it.

So, to get back on topic (as I think this is not really what the creator of this topic meant to happen): sick shit is imo movies/feature films in which cruel/weird/gross stuff happens. And I watch that because I really, really hate romantic comedies.

TBH Slayer I rarely find stuff I judge to be wrong. Pretty much the only times I have problems are when someone/thing involved is not consenting, whether child, adult or animal.

I have always believed, and tried to instill this into my offspring, that anything between consenting adults is cool if that is what they want, no matter how weird it may seem, as long as no-one is harmed or upset.

Mmm, it seems like you think I'm judging those people, whoever tehy are. I'm not. I used some strong words maybe, but I didn't mean to judge. I'm just curious, maybe someone has answers or probably just guesses to my questions. I like to learn.

I totally agree with you on the 'not consenting' thing.

Anyone else with more ideas why we watch sick (or "sick") movies?

I have a strange suspicion that some of you guys may not appear completely normal to the average person.

You mean "appear" as in "look like"? Or also "act like"? I actually make it one of life's goals to not appear normal to average people, because average people are usually boring.

Appear in both respects Slayer. Mind you, I echo your comments, average people are really fucking boring, when I was at school the smartest and most interesting people were the Goths and other people considered strange by the mainstream.

Personally, I do not give a flying fuck what I appear like to other people, most think I am strange. It is cool though, people keep me at arms length and I get my personal space, nice.

Very few people are called friend to me, it is an honoured list to be on because it means I find you interesting and smart. Probably why I get on so well with you guys.

LOL I have 2 people that are true friends, about 6 or so that are friends, and the rest I may speak to if I deem it worthy LOL

Actually, most people consider me rude because I do not speak to people if I do not want to, some people come into and leave my house without me ever speaking to them once, many people come to think of it.

Same here. It doesn't happen often but when it does it's never someone I asked over and when they're there, the computer is a good escape. +1 for headphones when ignoring unwanted guests.
