Hmmm.. I'm not very hardcore into the Saw films, This was the best one on the level of gore (even the theatre version was packed with blood and guts), but now that jigsaw is dead it's really lame in my opinion. Oh yeah btw, My girlfriend almost barfed her guts up and she noticed everytime someone got butchered or ripped apart i was smileing... she now thinks i'm a sick twisted fuck lmao. :)

Surely, even on this message board, I can't be the only one who finds the Saw films to be utter cock?

Not an attack on you, SacrifyX, just using this as an excuse to say this.

The first one was ok, it was even nudging good 'til about half way through.

The second was weak, the third was just a convaluted, pathetic, contrived, boring pile of butt-milk. Yeah, yeah, lots of gore, but gore without creativity is just boring.

So many new horror films promise a lot and deliver fuck all.

Just to make myself even less popular, while I'm moaning, anything touched by Eli Roth makes the Saw films look like 90 minute biscuits of genius.

...

*Gets coat*

I liked the first one. The others are just a piece of crap.
The only reason there is more gore is to bring more people to go and see the film. It's bullshit. The sequels were so exagerated.

Well to be honest I could've cared less if I saw it or not, It's like watching seasame street for me. I'm use to sicker or gorier classic flicks... I just wanted to gross my girlfriend out lmao. And it did that. I don't like too many new horror movies. The whole CGI blows asshole IMO. I hate CGI in general. I like the old fashioned special effects honestly... It looks more life like to me than a fucking computer, Don't get me wrong, I love computers, Obviously i'm on one right now lol But keep them out of movies. I can't help but say lord of the rings made me fall asleep, Sorry to anyone who enjoyed it. Oh yeah and 300, What A peice of SHIT. I'm not sorry to anyone who enjoyed that. I think me and my friends were the only people in the theatre laughing our asses off at the shitty acting, lame CGI and that black dude with all the periceings lmao. I could just imagine if all the CGI wasn't there how funny it would look. I don't think movies like that are creative what so ever. Anyways, I just went to feel up a chick, not to watch it. lol.

Double agreed.

Starting to realise that I dislike more films than I enjoy. I should prob get a new interest.

And yeah, real effects beat CGI without question. That's why The Thing still craps on modern horror even though it's three decades old.
It also helps that is has good acting, believeable characters, an excellent build up of tension. And doesn't involve 'College kids'.

haha, I remember I got some surprising reactions here a few years ago, when I said I couldn't understand what people seemed to like about the first one.

The first one had a surprise ending. At least for me. It wasn't the best horror I had seen in years and of course are movies like Evil Aliens loads better, but I liked it enough.

What I don't get is the endless bashing of some movies. It sometimes seems to be "cool" to bash Saw-movies, or Eli Roth movies or whatever.

..it`s not for me an issue whether it`s "cool" or fashionable to bash Eli Roth movies as I just find the guy to be a nob-hound, who without the Tarantino endorsment would be a flat out D-movie producer.

...when Roth comes out with something that has more than just a bunch of gory visuals sellotaped to a threadbare plot then i`m willing to change my opinion on him..

..but i`m not holding my breath.

The issue of "cool" has never entered into it for me.

I promise you, I watched Cabin Fever and Hostel's 1&2 with hope in my heart...

Why do I hate Eli Roth's films?

"Pancakes!"

As for association with critical trends, I'm a 32 year old, semi-hermitical loner who uses films as an escape to a better place. I couldn't give a fuck if a film is in-line with modern definitions of the genre, only if it's good. His films, as well as the piss-poor Saw franchise, are not.

Admitedly, I'm not of the intended demographic for either films, but I AM a life-long horror fan. In recent times there has been something of a resurgence for 'horror' amoungst the MySpacers. With each new generation comes a new audience and all that, but I hate these films 'cos they're shit. not 'cos I think I should.

I want to carry on, to say how this is something I'm very passionate about, how horror takes enough of a bashing without unoriginal output lowering its profile further, how... But Fuck this, I've been awake 27 hours, I'm suffering from pathetic insomnia, I'm drunk and probably being a little more defensive than I should.

Apologies all round, but Eli and Saw can suck my cock.

Has there been a good, creepy, chilling movie released in 2007? :(

Don't be afraid to help me answer the question... right off I can't think of one...

Very good! I like this reply!

Of course I'm not thinking EVERYONE bashes movies because they think they should because it's the fashion of the day, but I still think many people do, maybe even without them knowing it.

I noticed myself that if someone gives a bad review of a movie, it often comes out better than I expected. In reverse, if someone praises a movie sky high, then it often falls flat on me. Expectations, what other people say and what the media say has more influence on us than we probably like.

Doesn't take away that I believe you, perkin2000. I think you put it very well and I hope you will be awake more nights with sleep deprivation and too much alcohol if this kind of posts is the result. :beerchug:
