Slayer, be sure to give us some pics as soon the movie night is over!

Btw. you can create DVDs of any of the movies - you don't need to buy them (I'm sure you knew that already). You tell them that it is a copy from a friend - or so (TmpgEnc).

Having seen Waxwork, I would say it is a very nice movie that deserves to be shown. What do you think?

Next release will be: La Cité Des Entfants Perdu (1995) + Making Of (Status: working on the subtitles)
Last release was: Svengali (1931)

Hi, I have to change the programme a little bit because there are three other locations in our school where the kids can watch movies, and they have to be able to switch from mainstream to horror inbetween movies (there will be 10 minute breaks and one longer break during the night). The third movie is a bit of a problem lengthwise, I wanted to show Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but it is too short. So I put three options in the list below and I'd like your opinions on which one fits in best.

So probably it's gonna look like this now:

- The Thing
- Dawn of the Dead
- Hellraiser or An American Werewolf In London or Near Dark
- Evil Dead
- The Omen
- Bad Taste

So TCM, Carrie and Troll 2 fell off, mainly due to finetuning with the programmes of the other locations. I can always keep them in mind for next year or something.

I think it sucks that I have to show Evil Dead before The Omen. I'd like to see that switched, maybe I can fix that.

The horrornight is still in the near future, so I'd be one hell of a magician to have pics already.

I'll see what I can do, no promises.

I know, but I would be lacking subtitles mostly. And the kids really need those subs.

I haven't seen it, so can't comment.

I think if you show them "The Thing", "Dawn Of The Dead" and "Hellraiser" after each other they'll fall asleep. Those are nice movies (however I personally don't like Hellraiser 1) but they are slow with not much action.

From those listed I haven't seen "Near Dark" and "Bad Taste" yet.

"An American Werewolf" is ok.

What about this order?

1. Dawn of the Dead
2. The Thing
3. Evil Dead
4. The Omen
5. An American Werewolf In London
6. Bad Taste

Yes, I'd really love to start with Dawn of the Dead and then The Thing etc, but I have to consider the lengths of the movies shown in other locations, otherwise kids can't switch inbetween movies. And since they want to start with a film which doesn't run for 160 mins, I can't take off with DotD

I totally agree with elchupacabra. But my suggestion would be:

1. Evil Dead
2. The Thing
3. Dawn of the Dead
4. Near Dark
5. Bad Taste
6. The Omen

With other locations you mean that there are several rooms each for a different genre? Cool. :wacky: Where is that school? :googley:

If I were the chief of staff of the movienight at school, I would do it my way, but I am not, an I have to take into account what people are showing in other locations. The films have to run simultaneously.

OK, it was cool, I got very tired around 8 o' clock in the morning, but it was worth it. I loved to see all those movies again. For some (The Thing, DotD) it was really a very long time ago since I had seen them. Others (ED) are good enough to watch over and over again. I was surprised to notice that the first scary scene in The Omen gave me the creeps again, although I knew what was coming.

Pictures (not by me)

Image
That's me in my brand new Dawn of the Dead shirt (I just fixed a window)

Image
This is what my cinema set looked like in the classroom. Nice audio!

Image
This is me at the door with all the fans.

Image
The white couch was mine all night long. Notice the reflection of the next movie in the window ;)

More pics are here. They are taken at all four locations. The horrorclassroom is the one with the couches on the window-sill and no covers on the windows (another classroom looks almost the same, but has brown covers halfway down the windows).

I was surprised by the amount of visiting kids. The Thing was watched by 40 kids, Dawn of the Dead by 50, American Werewolf by 30, The Omen by 30, Evil Dead by 20 and Bad Taste by 30 again. The supervisor told me other classrooms were almost empty during my first two movies: I had drawn all kids to the horror clasroom  I was also surprised by the amount of girls: I was expecting guys only, but it was almost 50-50.

Fucking excellent mate. I am glad it was successful, you put alot of effort into it.

When I was at school the most hardcore things we were allowed to watch were Tom and Jerry cartoons.

I must say, I thought you were much older - sorry.

I will have a look at the other pictures later on.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I enjoyed it myself very much as well. Gonna do a rerun next year with different movies of which I already have some in my mind (Pet Sematary, Evil Dead 2, Braindead, Prince of Darkness, Near Dark, Hellraiser). I'll have to change some of them again for sure. If they're gonna run a very long movie (160 mins) I'm gonna show two shorter movies in the same time. For example, Blood Feast is very short but also very bloody.

You could have known what I look like by checking this thread. Post your pics as well overthere!

That would be nice. I didn't point out this site, but I'm pretty sure I found some horrorfans among my students/pupils, of which the most enthusiastic one was a fifteen year old girl! She really liked The Thing and Bad taste, so... a bright future lies ahead.

That's true.

Although I don't think posting my picture is such a good idea. That enables copyright protectors to track me down more easily.

I have to when I first saw Slayer I was quite surprised, he looks alot like my old history teacher, but with longer hair.

He was actually one of the few teachers I liked, easy going, understanding and actually appreciated the kids for what we were, rather than expeting blind obedience.

Exactly my friend. No point worrying about shit that you have no control over, no point stressing about things that might never happen.

Life tends to be as hard as you make it, so I make my life easy by just going with the flow.
