Spud can can give you the technical rundown on every aspect of why you shouldn't...I'll just bottom line it and say don't...of course you can do what you want...who knows...it may work for your needs.

OK, I read about several settings, but couldn't find much on:
- how to make chunks you upload bigger (instead of smaller chunks getting spread over more different people)
- what is better: Smart Upload Control or Upload Speed Sense?
- Hide OS: some people say your file gets spread better because you hide chunks which are already spread well? That sounds good, but still many here think it's not useful. Why?
- Is Slot Limiter set on 100 slots OK? I think less slots means bigger chunks, is that correct?

In short: I want my settings tweaked so that my releases get spread the best way possible.

Yup, I am a dummy and I suggested that before. Since I don't know how to tweak it perfectly, I wouldn't know how to fill that thread, though.

Yes, and I read it. I just couldn't find much on the things I posted above.

One more thing bout friendslots: I can add them again (after the reinstall of eMule), but instead of 15 kB/s peeps get now only 300 B/s from me. When I remove the FS the uploadrate goes up again. Does this mean that peeps with friendslots download from me slowly but steadily, as in that they don't have to wait to be queued? Small parts but constantly? If not, I think it is pretty idiotic to give anyone a friendslot ever.

In my eMule I can't find any settings regarding fried slots.

If I choose to provide someone with a friend slot his/her points are increased so that he/she becomes the #1 in the queue and the next to download from me. However occasionally this doesn't work and the person stays #1 forever. I don't know why this is. It seems to be a bug.

Friends however download until I or they disconnect. The speed of their slot is jumping around. 300Bytes/sec is a good example.

Bare in mind that your upload settings and your friend's download settings are both important.
That is why I always thought that it is ok having a slow upload slot because it might be the download settings of the friend that limits the slot's speed.

However what Slayer described above seems to be weird. I never experienced similar issues.

When turning this around, would you be satisfied? You having set up your mule to work th best UL/DL wise and then you rad that your friend is having a slow upload slot assuming that you haven't done your homework considering settings?

Call me naive or overly positive, but I rather have a faster upload slot which turns out to be slower than expected than the other way round. Maybe I'm missing something here, but most of my friends are experienced mule users and know their way around the download settings.

I have asked about slow uploads on this site before and the answer I got (from spud) is that eMule is not the most reliable application when it comes to upload/download speeds.
