I bought Dylans Blonde on Blonde a few days ago and it's really good. I dunno, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Greatful Dead.... Are these people actully good, GREAT or what, I dunno??? I only heard a little floyd.......

So what are some great albums, classics, like really good...Plz no metal I already am knowledged. Thanks forum, love me tender, love me true! Don't step on my blue suede shoes!

Ask you parents - if that is possible. It's the easiest thing to do for a young man at this age (19).

Here are some bands I like to listen to:
The Bangles, The Cult, Guns'n'Roses, Kiss, Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac, INXS, Jimmy Eat World, LeAnn Rimes, Mando Diao, Massive Attack, Spencer Davis Group, Supertramp, The Corrs, The Hollies, The Ramones, Van Halen

No albums as I usually don't buy CDs. They are too expensive IMO and never contain all the tracks I would like to hear. :(

Next release will be: La Cité Des Entfants Perdu (1995) + Making Of (Status: working on the subtitles)
Last release was: Svengali (1931)

However I am not a fan off Jimmy Eat World, Cannibal Corpse, Opeth, Fall of Troy.

More plz guys!

What I did when I had the same question, was buying Greatest Hits from artists I didn't know anything about. Another option is live albums, which can be classic as well. However, I can imagine that you want to have classic studio albums. Some tips:

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
The Who - Tommy
The Beatles - The White Album
The Doors - L.A. Woman
The Cure - Pornography
Joy Divison - Unknown Pleasures (and also Closer, both are classics)
Bauhaus - The Sky Has Gone Out
Deep Purple - In Rock
Van Halen - Van Halen
Alice In Chains - Dirt
The Exploited - The Massacre
Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited (next to the one you bought, this is the best one)
Fields of the Nephilim - The Nephilim (second album)
Sisters of Mercy - First and last and Always
Laibach - Opus Dei
Kraftwerk - Autobahn (although I think The Man Machine is better)
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Bob Marley - Catch A Fire
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magic
Radiohead - My Iron Lung
Tool - Aenima
The Toy Dolls - Dig That Groove Baby
Lou Reed - Berlin
Velvet Underground - Velvet Underground & Nico (the one with the banana on the front)
Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage

Some great live albums:

Bob Marley - Babylon By Bus
Thin Lizzy - Live & Dangerous
Pink Floyd - Delicate Sound Of Thunder
Rolling Stones - Flashpoint
The Cure - Concert

I've always said you can tell what kind of person someone is by looking at their music.

Yeah, and I hate it when someone says, "Oh, I like just about anything." This is also an indication of what they are like, but annoying nonetheless.

"Oh, I like just about anything." = Pop music = :suicide:

Usually these people are annoying themselves, making the circle complete ;)

I used to be very strict in what I liked (metal) and what I didn't like (everything else). After that, I started to explore various other types of music and man, I found some great stuff. The metal keeps coming back, though. Every time I don't know what to listen to, I can put up two things:

- horror soundtracks
- metal

Oh, btw: by 'metal' I don't mean that gay music like Dream Theater and the like, that's for sissies.

I used to be like you Slayer, with metal music aswell, If I liked it it was great and you were stupid. But I was very closed minded, I see some sucker liking a band and I dont even hear them but I think Ahhh "they suck" cause xxx likes them.

Well that's silly, they could be a great band with just some sucker liking them, so open up, like what you like and don't what you don't. See the old me would never post this thread, I just wanna see what people say is good and go from there.

Queen, Blondie, David Bowie, Adam Ant. So fucking many I dunno where to start. I loved the 80's. :shadey:

:edit: I didn't love Bros though. I fucking hate Take That, and, well, erm pretty much any other boy band. Bunch of fudge packers. Really not that keen on most 'pop' music.

Blondie also released their best and most successful music in the 70's, and Adam Ant released his best although unsuccessful music in that decade too.

This is where we get Tak pausing for a meaning and exclaiming, "wait a minute..... fuck the 80s!"

LOL I should have made that into 2 separate statements. I am aware of when each of my listed artists/bands started, reached their peak etc.....

I still love the 80's, it was pretty influential on me. ALso, I am still moderately young and heard the 70's stuff in the 80's.

They fucking ruled, even though I was fairly young. I wish I was older, gotta love the dirty decade.
