nobody likes ;hell's grim harvest;?
hehe, i did make a fake picture to go with this one about cereal, i called em 'ScareCr-O's' in a shiny cereal box.
eh, other sites said it was one of my better accomplishments.
ahh, what kind of stuff would the avergage HHAH user like to see in this topic, in the future. i am really a bit befulldeled with you people, i wouldnt say your a fickle lot, just a hard crowd to gauge to to either great responses, or none at all.its hard to tell what projects are worth persuing, and which seem to illicit absolutely no interest.
oh, well, here are some of the projects i got going at various stages,
1. manmade man, the animation(a 12 minute long hand drawn(mostly) with industrial music syncing up to key areas, such as heartbeats, and various ques from what is on screen. i probably have around 1500 frames done, each by hand.
2. the graphic novel of the same story as above. i have it mostly done, in standard comic book form, the naration and dialog i added, and still need tweaking. it paints a much darker, more violent bludgshed, and extreme extreme disregard for human beings, children, anything living. i made the monster a rampaging, thoughtless beast obsessed with killing anything it saw, while the doctor is a twisted mirror image, he;s still basically an evil killer with no remorse for what his creation has done, he just want to erase his mistake. i actually got some interested parties/semi offers to have it published, though i do already have worked on a distribution scheme that would actuall leave me with a fair amount of profits.
3. a.i been tinkering on an of with my monkeyweb ftp/mirc/encrypted file suite, i thru in some nice little features, though i hacked or liberated portions of other peoples work to get it to work. it looks pretty damn spiffy.
i have quite a few little progs in thier i constantly use, like tcpview, dll/process tracer, little xtras and crap. once i intergrate a chat program i will use it quite a bit, cause i encrypt it as thouroughly as i know how to.
3.b. along the same line as above, but it is also a MURK online roleplaying capabilities. not exactly brimming with eyecandy, but it does worok and seems stable, with room for add-od modules/quests. decent graphics with the avatars, i was working on like a real time voice communication, but that is still a pipe dream. one good(or rather bad maybe) is the inclusion of an actual dungeon master type person. no matter how advanced an AI is, it cant make the free thinking and association, the imagination, if you will, of an actual human being. say, in quake multipayler, you wanted to play dead, or rig a dead body to stand up with a riffle set on autofire, that would need a human dungeon master, or very sneakily sneaking up behind a friend and quitely blowing thier head off, point blank, right out of the blue.
ahh but it goes on and on and on.
4. comic book catalogue and issue database, i got some sections working, daredelvil and alpha flilght, i think dracula i do next.
eh, anything above that anyone would be interested in seeing done? that they would have a use for? im probably going to do them all anyway, but if someone would use em, i'd give the projext preferential treatment, as in i'd do it first.
and as always, if someone want to hook up with me on some of these projexts, i am always happy to have the company of others.

the animation peaks my interest mr. smasher...
"eh, other sites said it was one of my better accomplishments"
-have to agree there
-hmmm, i'll try to make sense... I like the photo-realistic sky in contract with the crude but highly stylized forground.
course I'm still pretty partial to the karst/jimmy pic,

gracious, amigo.
that is not the actual finished picture, i threw it up here and another site yesterday to compliment(in a somewhat twisted way) a dude i know who wrote a poem about 'the crops they rot' on what i thought hte poem would be about with out actually reading it. i didnt go as far to read his actual poem, as it was at least 4 paragraphs, but by the time i was 80% done with that picture, i decided to read it and saw that i about as far from the actual meaning of the poem as what i put. i was going for something like hell's midwest/farmcountry, where the damned's souls are eternally grown in limitless fields, harvested by scarecrows, and used to feed the ever growing increase of people/demons/things in hell.
the pointless vengence/tending endless, was what i was thinking about the whole concept of eternal torture. i mean, seriously, why bother, the person being tortured with absolutely no way for salvation seems completely pointless. the torturee isnt going to learn his lesson, he's just going to look forward to constant torture with no escape.
hehe, the actual story/poem is freakishly longer. this was all i could fit on the pic.
eh, the scarecrow and field of wheat, the chopped off heads, are all unfinished, along wiht the scarecrows outline, there are a lot of fuzzy areas, mostly at his hat and scythe.
ehehehe, then again, im no art fag, i dont know much about poetry, deep feelings, or that stuff. i just thought it was worth the 45 seconds it takes to read it.
eh,
but if you would like to help on some of the little projects i do, you seem bright/inteligent, and i would be more then happy to have you onboard, ive worked with quite a few teams/groups in the past, from some decent videogames, to some specialize programs, various dialogs, and am currently employed to do some art for a graphic novel, not of my own desighn.

Wow, where'd you get that idea. Definitely wasn't from one of my posts on this thread: http://forum.dead-donkey.com/viewtopic.php?t=2420
The bright/intelligent thing usually comes along after someone gets to know me. First impressions usually point toward a beer drinking, country music listening, wrestling watcher (as related by more than just one person). Need to work on it more, would also like to add a little bit of an inbred swagger to my walk (I'm taking classes).
What kind of help?... artistic or more like touch-up?

heya karst,
artistic? touch-up? hell, anything(no, not money). i find sometimes that the process of working with people whom i enjoy thier company, thier input, ideas, critisism, is actually worth more then the payoff of the finished product. you always seem like your intelligent, not prone to starting piss fights namecalling for no reason, all around you seem decent guy.(cept for the bodies in the basement and,, well, the sodomy) i know really nothing about you besides you know about geology, but i'm pretty sure everybody has something they are good at. john doe is good at mixing music, and i thought he was gonna do some music for my manmademan project, but i think he got a girlfriend or something.hehehe, now i got a group called 'spookhaus' said they's do music for me. HEHEhehe, i dont try to pressure anybody, if there is a project i am doing someone is interested in helping with, welcome aboard! i am always interest of having teammates/co-workers/accomplices, or if, like a lot of people, you have a story or idea that burns in you that need to be created, whatever, i'd happily help with it.
hehe, so if u see any of my projects that interest you, and you feel like helping, i am more than happy.input, critisism, artwork, writing, ideas, anything you feel like. hell, even proofreading spelling errors.
and yes, i do have some slight plans on eventually making money from doing stuff like this, the animations, the stories, artwork, that crap, i just want to do some free stuff first, that people will find interesting and hopefully enjoy them.
hehe, or if u dont want to do much, you can be like a 'control group', i send a project to you, you read/watch/play it, then critique.

eh,
im on an outerlimits spree(wich is odd, as its not one of my favorite series), i'll put all my OL eps in my shared, i posted all the links i saw with full sources in the outerlimits section. i got a couple of the original series B&W that arent on mule as far as i know. hopefully those interested in colllecting these series will give me a hand, so everybody has the oportunity to get every episode.
so, outer limits fans, how about we make a 'outer limit push' so everybody can get ;'em, fill in some of the missing episodes, share some the scarce ones, etc.
i guess anyone interested in my fiendish plot to get all the outer limits episodes just pm me, work out a system and scheldule for the series collectors.

hahha. been messing with some of my older games and codes, this puppy is original, though im going into some 3dgames suites to get it so its better.
doesnt work for shit, has so many bugs it crashes before you even install it. hehe, it crashes if you think about it. but, its keeping me busy untill i find a piece of string or shiny glass to distract me.
i'm trying to make it show where the damage is at on the body part, that's what the dude is for.
yes,bloody mayhem, many weapons,
there is
-a hammer, trusty old hammer used for smashing. smashing monkeys, or monkey smashing.
-a door(yes, you swing a friggin door at people.carrying it around a bit cumbersome?you bet.)
-a gerbjectile/projerbil(it fires gerbils at monsters. a lot of gerbils. lots),
-cat-a-pult(meeeeeeeeeeeoooooooowwwwwww)
-the dreaded lawnmower
-midget launcher(they wear helmets)
-poodlegun
-batteries(yes, throw one of those c or d cell batteries at peoples heads)
-a poolball(billiard to you fogbreathers) in a sock
-the shopping cart of destruction (or, i believe some call them 'trams')
-and i was thinking for an ultimate superweapon, throwing planets.
if someone throws a freakin planet at you, your gonna have problems.
eh, and ive been working on some dink smallwood mods.

looks like a bryce render with a jpg hud stuck over the top of it, am I far off? Good old Bryce3d
If you want to mod a 'solid' game or something to take a look at for ideas; duke3d is a great choice, powerful but ultra simple level builder, easy to hack the art and all the scripting is simple C... and it's open source now so you can hack it even further to pieces. I did some mods and what not for that way back in the 'when it was new', and it was quite enjoyable, got some great levels out of it. Never had enough time to do a proper mod though... I always run out of time. I'd love to start another project, but I ended up putting all my little projects to the "side" whilst I do my work, which ultimately led to me never touching it again It was a crying shame, I really enjoyed it. Now all the time I used to spend on modding and drawing I've been spending on php and web building, which is fun, but its more of an ongoing contribution rather than building something and building it to some kind of conclusion.

hehe, not quite bryce, but i can see and completely understand why youd think it, that picture/the whole interface is (stangley enough) a variation on my clivepedium. how i had the html window with the 'hover over' in the hellraisor series is the basis for this one, except i didnt use an html window, but a cheezey 3d pov raycasting engine, the basic of it was from errrr, i cant remember....er 3d game guru secret guide(?), somebook like that.(good chance this is why it crashes nonstop) eh, it's about doom 1 technology, if u didnt notice by the lovely 'fully rendered bryce3d' picture, there spud. hehehehehe. but there are primitive shadows. i did have to paste and clip some crap cause the prog doesnt even work, this was just a preview/idea/slight joke and to label the hud.
hehe, yes, multiple use code. if anybody's seen some my other pediums, the leftside skullhead with the blank spacers for menu items, of course the eyeball directional parts(i guess it's kind of my trademark), hell, everything i do i try to make it usable by other projects of mine.
strangley enough, making video games was the reason why i was interested in computers, ever since i was like 10 years old, playing atari, then playing my tsr-80's dungeons of daggorath, i wanted to make some games.
ahhh, the only 'monsters' i got in it are girl scouts. the elderly, the obese, handicapped people in wheelchairs, kids, people waiting for the bus, really nothing that could be considered threatening in any way, by anybody, for anyreason. they dont try to attack you or anything. it's up to you(the player) to just say fuck it and go on a slaughter spree. i was working on a wal-mart level, (going apeshit in walmart, killing people with a lawnchair), but i am sure i'll give up. it really is pointless. and i could see where i would get in some sort of legal trouble to make a game where the 'hero' is a spree killer/psychopath killing people for absolutely no reason. chasing down the 'monsters' (i.e. nuns, girlscouts, paperboys, etc) as they scream and run away. putting on body armor so when the coppers come and the 'hero' gots to slaughter them too, or get killed/caught, then electric chaired. mindless violence, hahahaha.
is there anybody who would actually want to play a game like that? be in the shoes of a psycho, maybe stalking and killing people(i imagine they'd be women), doing sick psycho stuff in a game?
i wouldnt really want to play it, but i would program it if people were interested. it wouldnt be that hard, since it would be completely an underground game, i could snag portions of other progs into it, or use
Gstudio6,gamespace suites i been browsing thru. i got a decent grasp of c, c+,allegro, visual basic, basic, are what im messing with now. hehe, i was just thinking, the language i know the best is COBOL, and then i thought how many decades it would take to program a game like unreal in cobol.
anybody want a game like that?

You should take a look at http://www.blitzbasic.com
It's quite easy to learn, fast as hell and with great direct3d and DirectSound3d support (5.1)
Download some demos and examples to see what others have done.
One cool thing is that it supports loading quake 3 maps..
(Just load it in as an object and do whatever you want)
I was so impressed of B3D that i actually bought it. The forum, code library and other community stuff was worth the cost for the key imo.

heya, thanks, death my man. that does look interesting, i might take it for a test spin, i am already reading up on a couple other gamecreation kits i got laying around.
i guess 3d games are hard to make without a company backing with lots of people workingon it. doesnt seem anybody wants to play something that isnt cutting edge graphics/dts sound/etc. I doubt if i made a game that wasnt insanely violent and distasteful in original and disturbing ways, nobody would bother with it.
my programing skills at games are like 7 years behind the times anyway. maybe i just mod something, like the Horror Has A Home Halflife/or Morrowind Mod, hehe, or my favorite of the minute Dink Smallwood Goes to Horror's Home.
you make any games? i worked on some games with some groups before, and i always thought you were familiar(what little we interact).

I got that beat, Dark basic is much better if its anything like it was a couple a years ago. There's a torrent of it complete over @ suprnova.org
Quote: | One cool thing is that it supports loading quake 3 maps.. |
ditto with dark basic, it was a port of the whole graphics engine too so it looked just like it

Spud: i've tried db, but i found it to be a lot slower than blitz3d. And Blitz3d is created by a legend - Mark Sibly
Monkey: Just a few small projects.. I usually get bored with them before they are finished. Began with a remake of topduck (what a great game and struggled with the monster-ai for days.. It did infact work and was scalable (could easily handle a few hundred monsters and players at the same time @+60fps) but it did crash often, and i never found that bug. Got bored and started doing an galaga/galaxy clone instead. Got bored of that too, but i think it's crash-free. Including 11 levels and an crappy leveleditor i made
I could release the binaries/source if you or anybody else want's to take a look.

Yeah, i know, he's white. i wont even dignify that with a response.
