I have just gotten into this movie stuff but I have been in the mp3 scene for a while now.

I always think that it's the rule of thumb to get crew rips, do you all agree?

Love,
Spazz

Nope, if you keep to crew rips here you'll get very little ;)

no way. Although there are good crew rips, there's also terrible ones. The number of nuked releases is astronomical and following 2 year old guidelines isn't helping. When it comes to horror, homebrew rips are just as valuable, groups like bloodweiser are excellent because they don't rush rips, they normally rip older stuff and therefore they take the time to do it correctly.

Any examples on this site of a Bloodweiser rip?

My personal collection of horror movies on dvd/vhs is huge, I should start doing it myself...

Of course, to make *backup copes* of my original collection

I would say that on this site, there are more homebrew rips than there are 'crew' rips. And in the majority of cases the homebrews are as good, if not better, than the crew rips.

My own rules: I will download the first available high quailty rips.

Now, what it means is if I find the movie been ripped by homies like Kat, etc etc, I will get that first!
Or, some nice asian movies like Virus has been ripped by Kleeper first, and i will go for it.

on the other hand, Deathbed has been rls by TheWretched first, so I will get that.

You see my logic ;)

The only crew rips that I have found that have been worth my time have been Gories and Kult. Not seen to many others in the horror genre. Most the others that I can think of only release in German or Italian anyways. It looks like we got a crew emerging from here called Small Time Rippers. Not sure how that will go,time will tell I suppose.

Nothing much will change to be honest, I ripped Friday the 13th and its up (down?) to my usual standards
It's more a way of getting our releases spread faster, providing a consistant format for file information and also maybe providing a sheen of credibility for people who think "scene" rips are better :)

the thing is also, there simply is only a fraction of group-rips on the mule network anyways, so the mule-community came up with their own rips which are good enough. availability is the most important criterion and emule-one-man-release-groups like schubi or Southside or jaffa produce guaranteed HQ rips which i add blindly to my collection.
my favorite rls-groups are FRAGMENT and SChiZO though. :P
