I saw The Ramones, the real ones. Actually, the only punk gig that I went to until a few years ago (and can't remember who I saw then). I was in New York visiting some aunts and uncles (they didn't live there, but we kind of met halfway). He was about 13 and I was probably 7 or 8. He had a penpal (a real life, pre-internet penpal) who lived in NY and he convinced our parents to drop us off there (the kid had been out to visit them, so they knew him). Anyway, this kid's dad owned some hole in the wall club, and he convinced his dad to let su go and see this show there. We were actually backstage (basically behind the curtain onstage), so that we wouldn't get caught in the crowd or the club. The show rocked pretty hard, I remember that much. It was only about 10 years later, when talking to my cousin, that I found out I had seen The Ramones. That is my only real memory of that cousin. He's dead, now. He lived a wild life and died of auto-erotic asphyxiation (but the family calls it suicide).

Uk Subs, State of Fear, PCP, Fleas and Lice, Seein Red, Misfits, M.D.C., Catweazle, D.O.A. are the ones that left the best impression after ~10 years of concerts

I was only 9 in 1977 so I didn't see any of the original punk bands at the time, in fact I didn't see any punk bands until the Damned in 1987 but I have seen hundreds since, off the top of my head I have seen
Ramones (with Dee Dee & Marky) Sex Pistols The Damned (original line-up) The Stranglers (with Hugh Cornwell) The Lurkers 999 UK Subs (original line-up) Buzzcocks (with Steve Garvey & John Maher) Cock Sparrer Stiff Little Fingers (with Dolphin) Tom Robinson Band (without Dolphin) Penetration Rezillos Slaughter and the Dogs Menace Sham 69 ATV Chelsea The Dickies The Drones The Avengers Angelic Upstarts Cockney Rejects GBH Drongos For Europe The Adicts Anti Nowhere League Abrasive Wheels Peter and the Test Tube Babies Notsensibles Chron Gen Discharge (with Cal) Chaos UK English Dogs (with Wakey) The Varukers Vice Squad (later line-up, Beki and god-knows-who-else) The Expelled Demob The Business Subhumans Conflict (with Steve Ignorant)
plus the vast majority of UK hardcore bands, and a good few US ones, active in 1988-92.

Exploited was enjoyable aswell, how could I forget And indeed a whole shitload of hardcore bands, varying from Sick of it All, Ignite, Agnostic Front, Earth Crisis and a whole load of local/lesser known kick ass bands. Oh yeah, DropDead, Insult, Collywobbles, Eyeball, panzerfaust, Jammah Tammah, Absorbed, My Minds Mine, Mihoen, Hatebreed, Catharsis, the Barnhouse effect, Shikari, Tragedy, Green Hornet, Makiladoras, Blood Bastard, ... (yeah I know, not all are punk, but it was a nice trip down memorylane)

Ditto. The only other bands you mention that I've seen are Sick of it All and Agnostic Front. Sick of it All's plane was delayed and we were hanging around for ages waiting for the band to take the stage, only for the gig to be cut short because the club had to close. Security said they could do one more song, I counted 6 all merged into one before security sussed out what was going on and pulled the plug.

Eehm, well. I was only 1 in 1977, so I haven't seen any of the original scene either. I have seen some famous bands and a lot of very unfamous bands (like Of No Avail).
The (more) famous ones I have seen are:
The Exploited The Toy Dolls UK Subs Green Day (nothing like the old stuff, but they have some good songs) Pennywise I Against I
I also saw a gig by the singer of the Misfits, the Drummer of the Ramones and the guitarist of Black Flag. They played songs of all three bands. Nice, but I'd rather have seen the original bands.
Saw a lot of hardcore too, like Madball, White Devil, Biohazard, Sick of it All, etc.

Now I'm jealous. They never play here in the UK. They toured here in 2007 for the first time in over 20 years and came to Manchester but I only have 2 mates who go to punk gigs, one was broke and the other was working that night. Maybe I should have gone on my own. I saw Green Day once around the time of the Kerplunk album. I think admission was £3 IIRC

Oh, I forgot two. I saw the Dayglo Abortions at a small place in Victoria, way back when. It was a pretty wild scene. A bit late to be the true punk heyday, but it felt like it that night. And I was dragged to another show, but cannot remember the band's name. Didn't really like them, but I ended up a little embarrassed because my buddy knew one of them and he came into my work later on that weekend. When he asked me if I had a good time, I sort of dodged the question...
edit: That's who it was. It was Jello Biafra and the Dead Kennedy's. Not a huge fan of the show, but I'll always remember that it was through him, and my buddy, that I first got a copy of Terminal City Ricochet (long since lost).

Quote: | There is only 3 guys in the Misfits, Jerry Only sings and plays bass (Jerry and I go way back), Marky Ramone on drums and Dez Cadena, the former singer and guitarist from Black Flag. I find it cute that since Marky and Dez are 'without their original band' that they fit nicely into the Misfits. |
? Maybe simply a newer line-up off the Misfits?

That must be it. Dez did not come to my mind, i imagined Marky playing with Greg Ginn, all that free jazz soloing on 4/4 drumbeat.

I have seen No Means No as well, forgot to mention them. I also saw some of those Celtic punk bands: Flogging Molly and The Real McKenzies.
About the gig with the Misfits singer: it was on Dour festival in Belgium, in 2007 I think. They advertised it as "The Misfits".
