Post subject: | Movie posters on canvas |
Hi all! To make my living room a little more 'alive' I wanted to have a couple movie posters on canvas. I've seen a couple of pictures printed on canvas and they look real sweet. I was thinking about a 3 panel with a widescreen movie poster on it to start with. It would be panels of 60x40x3 or 60x60x3. So when put together it would be 60x120cm or 60x180cm. I was thinking about a zombie movie poster or something alike, or atleast a freaking classic horror movie. Has anyone have experience with this? And does anyone know of a place where I can get such highres pictures which can be used for this? tia! When I have it, I'll post pics |

Ah. What resolution would you need them at to make them as big as you want to? |

something like: height: 26,77x300 = 8 032px width: 74,02x300 = 22 205px thats inch*dpi = px But 150dpi or 200dpi should be good enough as well. |

Ah! I don't think I have collected anything that large from my travels on the interweb. There is a great site called Dr. Macro that is nice for high res scans of film stars. But even those pics don't come close to that. |

i dont know, but maybe the cheapest way would be to make canvas effect with some photoshop and than to print it (not home, allcause). Cause real painted picture will cost much more, as i understand. http://uraniumcafe-the.com/2009/11/06/e ... ma-period/ http://fineartamerica.com/art/all/horror/canvas+prints http://www.amazon.com/Extreme-Canvas-Mo ... 096642722X guys, could you edit your post and use imgsize? |

Done. Finally. I've never used that tag before so I had to guess how to make it work. That is not standard BB code... |

VV have you found any big enough pictures/images already? If not you could always compile your own movie poster and maybe mix in some original movie stills to get the desired img size. |

I do the exact same thing VV. I have a number of my fav posters printed on canvas... You can find stores to print on canvas all over the place. I use a website in AU called http://www.cheapcanvasprints.com.au.. you just send them the image they print and send you the canvas. You'd be surprised how awesome a print on canvas can look. Grab an app called "Genuine Fractals". It is a plugin for photoshop and using fractal maths somehow to help in enlargement of images.. it is really really really good and can allow you to use images form websites and stuff and print them out on full poster size and still have them look awesome. Also the canvas "bumpy"ness kind of hides the enlargement artifacts. Also when I do prints I usually do them from cool retro scifi posters (as is my fetish) but the point is older posters, classic retro ones i mean, again the look of them themselves will hide the enlargement and printing artifacts Also lots of people do not know but google image search has an advanced options to search for images based on file size. Use this when looking for poster images and you will get a lot better results. http://www.wrongsideoftheart.com/wp-con ... ter_03.jpg http://www.wrongsideoftheart.com/wp-con ... ter_01.jpg http://www.impawards.com - www.wrongsideoftheart.com Has some good higher rez posters |
