Forgive me, but I think the riddle sucks, so here is a new one I happen to remember:

Detective Poirot is on the train to Paris. He is sitting in a cabin with a woman.
As the train passes through a dark tunnel and the train is all dark... A SCREAM!

Poirot jumps up. After the train left the tunnel he looks at the woman who is all histerical.
"What happened? What is wrong?" he asks.
"My bag. It has been stolen!" she replies.

The detective quickly opens up the cabin's door and looks around. There is nobody around.
Since they are in the very last railway car Poirot is heading throught the narrow corridor towards the locomotive.
He meets the conductor right at the end of his railway car.

"Did you notice anybody coming this way?" Poirot is asking the conductor.
"No, nobody came this way recently and I've been standing here since we entered the tunnel." The conductor replies.

The detective is thinking: Alright, so the robber must be in one of the cabins in this very railway car.
All but three cabins turn out to be empty, so he enters the three cabins one after another...

Cabin #1:

Poirot opens the door and steps inside. There is a pretty lady sitting inside with a lot of bags and all alone.

"Good day to you miss. Have you noticed anybody running around?" Poirot asks.
"No. I was scared like hell when we entered the tunnel and I heared a scream. Why do you ask?" she replies.
"There has been a robbery. If you happen to remember anything else, please call the conductor!" Poirot says and leaves the cabin.

Cabin #2:

Poirot enters the second cabin finding an older man inside.

"Hello sir. A person was robbed on the train. Did you notice anything?" Poirot asks.
"No, not at all. That is terrible? How is the person? Has she been hurt?" The old man asks.
"No, nobody is hurt. But please let me know, when you remember anything useful. Good bye." Poirot leaves the cabin.

Cabin #3:

Poirot enters the third cabin meeting two small kids playing chess and arguing heavily.

"Hi guys. Someone has been robbed on this train. You didn't hear anything, did you?" Poirot is asking.
"No, sir. We've been busy playing chess and my brother is cheating!" one of the kids replies.
Poirot: "Why is that so?"
Kid#1: "As we entered the tunnel he moved the figures in the dark."
Kid#2: "You are a liar. I didn't toucht the board."
Poirot: "Ok ok. Calm down. Where are your parents?"
Kid#2: "Our dad went to get us some food. We haven't seen him since then?"
Poirot: "When did he leave?"
Kid#1: "About 10 minutes ago."
Poirot: "If you see anything strange, please report to the conductor. And stop fighting!"

As Poirot leaves the last cabin, he gets back to his own.
After thinking a bit he was able to figure out who the robber was.
Who robbed the woman?

How is he to know that the robbed person was a woman? Poirot didn't mention it to him. I guess he was the robber.

School at saturday night, sounds like a bad alibi. Was it the kid? That part of the cook being surrounded by knifes sounds like some kind of clue though...
