Post subject:  Lost a lot of stuff

Hey guys,

I found this site a long time ago when my interest in Movies (especially the Horror and Sci-Fi genre) started, I believe this was around 2006 or 2007 I think.

With the help of this site I got a lot of great stuff.
E.g.:
    -Apocalypse Now 5 1/2h Workprint
-Camcorder Footage from Tom Savini from the production of Romero's Day of the Dead
-some special Halloween Movies versions (H6 Producer's Cut)
-A Nightmare on Elm Street 5 unrated Laser Disc Rip
-Return of the Living Dead Workprint
    -Friday the 13th Movies Workprints

I lost all of my "gems" last year when the HDD they were stored on crashed and since then I wasn't able to get them back and even didn't found this site again, which I now did.
The only problem I now still have that the things above aren't online anymore (I think) I found some thread of them but the last post are all several years ago and on top of that they are all shared via ed2k which isn't really save (or are there any options?).

So maybe there is someone here who can help me to receive them, I would die for them?

ouch, that's harsh... all of those should still be alive on emule; have you tried to simply redownload them. ed2k has *massive* retention due to a lazy user base ( and its general shitty slowness ), so i'd be suprised if they weren't still available on ed2k.

I think I have them but in a different country, I didn't bring any of my old stuff when I moved four years ago.

btw, buy a NAS with some redundency... I recently made one, i thought i'd documented it here:
viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20379&start=100
but seems I didn't.

Basically unraid is a micro-linux distribution, where you can use a parity disk and it juggles complete files across multiple disks, it can withstand disc failure and should everything but one disk fail you retain at least the files on that disk in their entirety which makes it economical for storage of movies. I have a 12TB NAS, using new and old hdd.

Yeah I already have a NAS which I want to purchase when I have the money.
I don't have much money avalible as a Student and here in Germany a lot of good/old Movies getting theier first digital (DVD/Br) world wide releases in the last months so I had to get the first.

Isn't using eMule really risky? From what I heard here in Germany you can get busted really quick.

Much less than most things, like torrent, etc. I guess that's the issue with p2p. The entire list of movies you mention are not available commercially in any shape or form, so unlikely to be monitored. However anything copyrighted carries a risk I guess.

I don't interested in any kind of illegaly things. I buy what I want if avalible.

But beside what you mentioned I don't have any knowledge about P2P, back in the days I just installed "eMule" and downloaded that stuff via the links provided here.

Do the same, install emule, click the links... they should download again providing they go blue.

Any special settings to optimize anything?

Takes a while to get going but generally, make sure you aren't firewalled off and let things go blue. Mule kinda sucks for the new guy I'm afraid, if you are in a rush then its not for you :(

I'm not in a rush just happy to get that stuff back.

But as longer it takes the higher is the chance to get caught.
