mmm, There's a thread here alleging that DVDPacific are amongst a number of companies hit by fraudulent CC activity, if you've ever ordered from them check to see if you've had any CC activity from a "Lip Inc" and if you have inform your bank / CC company.

i think you are correct....maybe only a quid or two more for the new releases than they used to be but if you hunt around on the high st you can pretty much match play's prices these days.

yeah, they never used to charge ?14.99 (pretty much stanard unofficial RRP these days). Stores sell at that price :o

I wonder if this is to justifiy/cost this book shit they've embarked into? Bad move imo. Firstly, amazon has it taken out to the cleaners. Secondly, why do they think amazon are moving away from books? The book market has been crashing / peaked a year back. was the first ecommerce area to acheive its potentional, and then its a pretty much saturated business now.

I thought that was a bad move they were making with the books, but the pricing lately is shit.

yeah i too noticed recently that their prices seem to be a liittle inflated. have been gettin most my new dvds from ebay these days, usually for less than half the price i woulda paid on play! wot is esp good is that the pound is so strong against teh dollar atm buying from the usa is ridiculously cheap mostly :)

n i concur wit u spud on teh book fing, if yr business is ticking over nicely why expand into a market that is already very well established? maybe they shuld jus do movie related books only......

And extortionate postal rates too. $6.50 for one DVD! :-o

That's UPS though, and the price per disc goes down the more you order but it's still pretty expensive. I tells ya, if it's on R1 I always use DVDPacific (and never had any CC hassles despite their problems).

Play are definitely expensive these days. The last few mainstream movies I've bought have been cheaper at the supermarket on release day by at least ?2-3!

cd-wow.com is cheaper than play.com now, amazing. Play.com really screwed up with that book shop I think.

Just to bring this to your attention:
http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/

Searches all the stores and finds the cheapest price. Tis how i found Babylon 5 S1-4 for ?16.99 a pop, amongst other things. There isn't a single place that's cheaper than the other these days.

Also:
http://www.choicesdirect.co.uk is very cheap

I tried to get The Allnighter from Loaded247 - they took the money, realised it was out of stock, refunded me instantly. Thankfully yes, but irritating also. I'm currently trying them again for a Gabrielle Anwar R1, so we'll see if they do it again.

Well, there's something strange. "For Love Or Money" order placed on Fri/Sat, website by Monday said 'despatched' - I just woke on this Tuesday morning to read an email from them saying:

Quote:
Please allow up to 15 days for goods to arrive from date of
despatch before pursuing any item(s). All goods are directly
despatched from North America
and, whilst the majority
arrive within 2 working days, some items may be subject to
customs clearance hold-ups and can take slightly longer to
reach you. This notice does not affect your statutory right
to replacements for lost mail.

...package was sitting on the doormat this morning. Cool.

h**p://www.diabolikdvd.com/

Got a good selection of Horror - I have ordered maybe three or four from them - took about 7 days to get them - came sealed and it perfect condition.

I got Haute Tension Uncut from there 12 months ago - they have all kinds of cool stuff.

Note: Check the price with P&P added and then h**p://www.xe.com/ucc/ if it is over ?18 you may get hit with Customs. But they send them in fairly bland envalopes - so they seem to ignore them.

okay since this hasn't been updated in a long time, i have done now.

Added Choices Direct because they friggin rule, easily better than play.com ever was. They have to be the cheapest place in the uk and their special offers rule.

These days i recommend using first the DVD price searching sites, i use find-dvd (added), because unlike a couple of years back, there really isn't 1 site that's always cheaper. Play.com jacked up their prices after they made the stupid move of branching out into books (there's like 0-profit in online books these days, was a very stupid move).

Was really to add Choice Direct though, previously i got B5 box sets for ?17.99, now i got Farscape box sets for ?29.99, which is ?10-20 cheaper than anywhere else at about 60% average. Xfiles box sets are ?12.49 there atm too.

I use http://www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk for finding best prices.

You can check regions 0-4, and it seems to search a lot of the popular worldwide sites.

yeah i noticed them before, not fond of the way they list things and some of the stores that come up. If you check out find-dvd, they clump together all the same editions of the dvd, so you've got a direct comparison.

I just did my farscape test, they don't have the fact that choices direct has the box sets for ?29.99, even though they list choices for some of the singular dvds, etc.

I usually use a couple of price checkers first though
