Post subject:  Hey you guys!!!!

Check this out http://www.shareaza.com They call it a unified P2P app, can connect to gnutella 1 and 2, bittorrent and edonkey networks. It can import edonkey incomplete downloads etc...

Has a lot of potential, but jesus is it fiddly. I had a good test yesterday and gotta say I am not impressed...........yet. The bittorrent part is not functioning yet, the donkey network part of it is way too shit, I have a film that has around 100 sources in the mule, but this could only find 1 source all day LOL And the fact I could not even find out what the phuq I was connected too either.

I am sure it has potential, just needs a lot of work. It has no option to tell it what mule server you wanna connct to yet, so it is pot luck. The gnutella 1 network is shit, but I have played around with the G2 network, and it "can" be real fast. Downloaded a 700 meg ISO is 90 minutes, and then tried the same iso with mule, complete with 10 times the sources, and after 90 minutes only had 80 meg.

I am gonna keep my eye on this one tho, as I know one of the ppl who was an alpha tester and the programmers listen to him, I have allready suggested the following:-

Community slots and friend slots ala mule,

Seperate screens for when you are connecting to the different networks, as at the moment itis all jumbled up on one screen,

Fasttrack integration too.

If you guys ever test it and have any suggestions then lemme know and I will pass them on.

Tried yeah, asked in IRC and no1 seemed impressed (the usual conservative scottish response from Bobble :) )

I thought it was a neat idea, torrents go fast and ed2k isn't that bad, it's just got more problems than it has solutions.

Bit Torrent links refused to work by the end, they would load, the 3 that did work came along fast. Converting temp files is stupid, why not use them in their native form? Worst of all is that it refuses to obey bandwidth settings and although it was fast at times, my upload swamped my download.

Needs fixing before the next release methinks :)

On the plus side Bobble got 11kb/s solid upload from me for a while :)

Oh I agree great one, definitely needs serious work. The basic idea is really sound tho. I really do hope they get it right tho, but I reckon it is gonna take a looooooong time. I just wish that bittorrent had a search facility, and yes I know it doesny work like that, but torrent is so damn fast, I always get a constant 120+ on the fast little mother trucker :matrix:

It's getting hard to keep track of the torrent sites now, so many of them are up and down and changing URL's LOL
