A few of you mentioned that this might be better in its onw section and I beleive they were right so here it is :D There are alot of movie and dvd comanies that deal with the obsure and hard to find uncut version of a film.Since most of us here at the forum basically want the most uncut version and best quality we can find, I prepared a little list here and a sort of synopsis of each area.Possibly this could be sticky'd?It's up to Spud on that one but I think it is a very good start for everyone who is a movie collector and of course our rippers here at HHAH. :D

Now onto Midnight.....I Honestly beleive they do try and search for the best quality or most footage they can find..More than an anchor bay release who shamlessly releases stuff under an uncut banner when it's not even close. On the flipside...Midnights production is at best rather shoddy...there are only a few films that are actually a genually good copy of the film. Now this isn't a rank on them since like I said they try and get the best print available and sometimes it isn't a great print in itself. But I will give an example here....Fury of the wolfman was released by midnight...under an uncut tag....a few months later they come out with Wolfman never Sleeps which is now a TRUE uncut of the film. The whole thing can get rather aggravating on the buyers end to be sure.I will give midnight credit here though...they put out a much more superior product compared to LFW(Luminous Film Wurks) which to me is just a blatant ripoff from VSOM(Video Search of Miami) who alot of people rank on saying THEIR product is inferior.Well,VSOM has been around for a long long time and I have had dealings with all 3 of these companies at one time or another so in the short..I would give midnight credit since at least for the most part they do point out the cuts in the films from the major production companies where as Luminous will just bend you right over and at times not even send your product to you.VSOM has so many films that it would take at least 8 hours to go through everything they got but at this point they at least will put what they have on vhs on a dvd-r for you if you request it.Another thing I have noticed about Luminous is that they are now in league with X-Rated video(a german based company) to maybe up their sales?X rated has good product and usually sticks a buttload of extras on their dvd's.But yet again the source video sometimes is not the best but better than a straight out luminous release where they just cap the vid and stick it on dvd-r...I could do a better job from my own home at transfering then they could with all their supposed professional equipment.(You'll see what I mean in the weeks to come on a few future STR releases :? )
So the way it boils down at least for me is this:
  1. . A professional companies release(i.e. Vipco,Anchor bay[but check your shit out first]
  2. . Midnight Video(but make sure you carefully check the specs)One positive thing I can say about these guys is that if you order from them you get it within 2 or 3 days :)
  3. . Video Search of Miami(These guys actually will grade the quality of the release..if it is crappy they let you know...no suprises from these guys which is a welcome change from the others)They are also very well established and are one of the first to do this kind of work.
  4. . European Trash Cinema (Loads of good stuff here...A complete D'amato collection and a very good description of what the movies are about..takes a little longer than midnight but taking into consideration the products they offer it is well worth a look.)
  5. Xploited Cinema (What can be said here?A whole section of Exploitation vids :)..they are alot like Luminous but far less shadey in their actual sending of your film..they also offer the X-Rated Production from germany)
  6. Digital Conquest (Not a whole lot to offer from here but what they do offer is extremely good.)
  7. Horror Movies.com (Can we say Cheap?Yes very cheap..as low as 3 bucks a dvd from these guys..I have ordered from them and got my movie within the week...Just make sure you look carefully first and research your product before you buy[i.e. Mountain of the Cannibal God] to make sure you get your full uncut)
  8. Best buy ( I have been truely suprised as to what I have been able to find with these guys...very reasonable priced dvd's)
  9. Yahoo and Ebay (As most of you know it is a matter of hit and miss with both these companies...this is another example of really reading carefully to find out what you are getting before you make your final bid)
  10. Luminous Film Wurks ( I will not promote this company in any way shape or form...sure they got a great web page with plenty of cool looking covers for stuff...but it is a prime example of don't judge a book by its cover thye have ripped me off a few times and have sent me just absolute crap as far as my orders go...in my opinion this would be your LAST resort to go to)

Another thing I do is go to http://dvdpricesearch.com/cgi-bin/dvdhtml2
They compare prices from a bunch of release companies and will find you the lowest price including the shipping and handling charges.
That is pretty much it in a nutshell...sorry about not giving a more shortened answer to all this but I feel a synopsis has been long over do for everyone especially some of the newer members that might be interested in buying some stuff themselves and releasing.I'll provide the websites for the companies I listed and who knows? Maybe we can get some more rippers here
  1. Vipcos website
  2. Anchorbays Website
  3. Midnight videos website
  4. Video Search of Miami
  5. Video Mayhem of Florida
  6. Taiseng video..alot of oriental products available
  7. The Infamous Something Weird Video Company from my Hometown..Tons of Exploitation vids as Layfette can Atest too ;)
  8. Diabolik DvD,Not ordered from here but they got the goods as well..would like to see what their status is like if any of you would care to try them out or have ordered from them let me know
  9. European Trash Cinema
  10. Xploited Cinema
  11. Digital Conquest Video
  12. Horror movies .com
  13. Best Buy
  14. You should all know Yahoo by now
  15. You should all know Ebay by now too...make sure you read the fine print though
    And finally:
  16. LFW - Not my favorite as if you couldn't tell by my above comments.....don't let their sales pitch fool you..these guys are as shadey as an oak in summer

Any of you have more to add then right them down with your experience with the comapny beeing good or bad.I realise Europe has their own deal going on over there so some sites from overseas would be more than welcome too.
Thus endeth my mini novel

PS....Thank you to Spud for giving me the code I needed to bullet these things in the list...makes it look far more professional(Albiet minus the Typos  )

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spud suggested that I add some compare and review sites as well in which I totally agree with so here is some that I myself am familiar with.
  1. DvD Price Search. For retail professional dvds try this one first. It will give you the lowest price available using numerous companies to find your lowest price including S&H.
  2. DvD compare. The Mother of all compare sites….these guys compare all different versions and releases of films and will tell you about the uncut status of the movie.
  3. Melon Farmers. The UK answer to your dvd questions about pre-cert and uncut.
  4. Refused Classification. Australia’s version of DvD compare.Good stuff on this one as well.
  5. Mondo Digital.Great reviews plus plenty of screen shots of great exploitation and Mondo films.
  6. Critical Online. This site Offers great reviews and also vhs and dvd movies for sale.
  7. Mondo Culto.Unfortunately this site is only in Italian but has some trippy movies and reviews non the Less/
  8. This one you have to get a pass for(Very easy to do if you know donkey ;).It has a lot of rare exploitation movies and basically deals with a lot of porn.
  9. Dark Horizons. This site is dedicated to Horror…lots of great interviews and news on upcoming releases
  10. Gorezone.Any of you older readers remember the Magazine Gorezone with all their cool posters and such?Any of you ask just what the hell happened to them?Well here it is folks….Probably my most favorite horror site on the web. These guys take info from a lot of deferent sources and compile it up to make one killer webpage.
  11. DvD Crypt.A subsidiary of Gorezone these guys only work on DVD’s with very comprehensive reviews and great cover art.
  12. Media Blasters. The Home Page of one of the more well known horror production companies.Use Discretion when ordering from these guys since as in the past they have been noted for releasing stuff in a cut format as well as incorrect aspect ratios.
  13. DvD Price Check UK.Europe’s answer to DvD Price check. So for all you Europeans out there this is the one for you Thanks for the link DJ ;)
  14. Mondo Erotico.Vidmarks own little Mondo Page…great sections on everything from Franco to Rollin.Alot of nice covers here for your poster board needs as well.
  15. Nunsploitation net.Want to know everything about the Nunspoitation genre?Well here it is…buttloads of just amazing finds on these films..they also have an exploitation section as well…A well worthy check out for you fiends of the penguins
  16. Orgish.com.For all you reality enthusiasts out there this one is for you.All the recent beheadings and other attractive material to make your stomach turn and to make your nightmares a reality.
  17. Hysteria Lives!!!Very impressive site on uncut gore movies. These guys also offer the complete rundown on the whole My Bloody Valentine debate and its unfortunate conclusion.Very well make site and well worth a look.
  18. Amazing Tails. Before I go any further with this one I should warn readers this is a sex vid site but offers more than just sex…It has a platerora of D’Amato films here for cheap in vcd and cd and dvd formats….it is worth a look for those that are into his films…believe me..I have been surprised at some of it’s content on just what it has to offer..(p.s. …Please don’t get pissed with me on this one spud…I had to offer something for Doc:P)
  19. Send it.com(Formerly Blackstar.co.Uk)UK Distributor of all sort of differing formats and genre..So it may be well worth a look for you euro’s out there.Got a great search by director feature for which I have used for picking up some of the D’amato posters.
  20. Rakuten.co.jp.In Keeping with our international flavor of the thread here is one from Japan.Smart users will know how to format these pages in their own preferred language but I realize we do have some Japanese users here on the board. At any rate these guys have their share of Horror to choose from with some great cover artwork and possibly differing versions of films not available elsewhere.
  21. Club des Monstres..Another Euro site this time in French(Here’s to you Bonnie & Clyde )Loads of great horror here as well and again great poster images to choose from. The Sidebar to the right offers other countries movies so again…..this one is well worth a check out..even if you can’t read French.(Although it really isn’t that hard to understand)
  22. So Sweet So Perverse. This site offers reviews and filmographies on Italian Directors and films. Loads of great posters and so much information on stuff that it would take half a page to describe it all.
  23. Video flash it.(aka Vendita Cult) An Italian site that offers rare vhs and dvd’s for a reasonable rate…loads of stuff that I hadn’t even heard of let alone encountered on a web page. This site is also a great one for poster boards and such.
  24. Absolute 18. Mostly erotica and porn on this site but does offer some of the franco and D’amato films that are hard to find.As the name indicates it is 18 and over so be warned before you enter that it does have a lot of porn involved but since it does have some of our more infamous director’s on board I felt it was worth mentioning.
  25. Kult Video. Still yet another Italian site that offers both vhs and dvd format of horror and exploitation films.Again it also has great poster boards for your more obscure movies.
  26. Vidxpress.com. Still yet another adult video site but with a large amount of director sections that fit into our criteria.
  27. Kelko Films UK. Large amounts of horror and other stuff if you click to the main page including electronics and such. This is another UK site for you Britt’s out there looking for something a little different.
  28. Horror Zone. A great little Italian Horror site that has reviews and links to other great sites.Another good poster board site for those looking for those links to the films they want to release.
  29. Missing Video. These guys work on those hard to find classics in all genres but the main meat is in the horror portion of the site…Very good posters and great work to find some of these which to be honest..are not available anywhere else as far as any sort of posterboard. In Italain but it isn’t that hard to understand for all you English only peeps.
  30. Pulp Posters Hot Spot Eyecandy. Exclusively for the posters here.Everything from Devil Within Her to The Beast in Heat.Highly recommended.
  31. Search Site. Italian Search site with loads of poster boards and images to choose from
  32. Rojo Profundo. Still yet another Italian site with loads of Poster Boards and reviews.
  33. Sweet and Cozy Video.Great spot for finding posterboards.Unfortunately this bastard only (Insert bad word here)Trades.So no luck on ever buying anything from the sob but at least you got his images you can rape;)
  34. The Art of Horror. Sister company of Pulp Posters.Alot of the same stuff they offer but more dedicated to horror.
  35. Thrauma.com. Still yet another Italian Site(See a Pattern developing here?) But by far one of the best for poster images. They offer loads of stuff in many differing genres, one of my personal faves to find that hard to find image.
  36. JPXdvD. Another Adult site that offers D’amato and other exploitation films uncut.Japanesse market so take that into consideration before ordering.
  37. VHS Survivors.Great site that has all those old beta classic film covers that have been long forgotten about. This one is another personal favorite of mine.
  38. DvD Covers.Great dvd cover site provided from DJ Benz. The covers look in great quality so Take a gander :) DJ knows his shit so it is a trusted source ;)
  39. FJ Movie.com.Another great one from DJ this Time in the Japanesse vein of thinking.According to Dj and I Quote"The Japanese Horror Movie Database. 1085 titles recorded"I beleive that say it all right there..thanks again for another man

*stickified*

I would add http://www.dvdcompare.net for a more general dvd quality (ie. transfer details, audio tracks, extras ,etc.). NOTE: "No cuts" here is regarded as closeness to the Theatrical version, not necessarily censorship. If the theatrical version is censored, and the DVD matches this, it will say "no cuts"

excellent dvd price search (multiple regions)

HappyHunter

Note: the country flag you click at the start is where you are from (for the right currency and postage price), it's not where the dvd you want is from.

---------------------------------------------

WorldWideDVD.Info

My own website (I'm not spamming here - I make no money from this website - just trying to help out) - it's basically just links I've found over the years to dvdshops (and dvd related stuff) from many different countries (which are in English). I haven't updated for about 6 months, but there's hopefully something of use there.
Click on the flags for each country, or the region codes for a more detailed list of countries in each region (with more countries not represented by flags). It's a slow constant 'work in progress' website.

I know :?
That was the downside to that site....although I am not sure if you are able to get some of those movies anywhere else...but yeah...everything is pretty pricey there.Would only use that site if I was totally desperate or REALLY wanted one of their movies....I haven't paid over 20 for a movie in years.
