It's actually a good laugh to read the comments here. Some people still know it all better.

FH was always about filesharing, from day one on till the last! Case closed!

Some people don't want to face this and think they're actually very special...what a joke! Some elitist intellectuals who have the sole right to discuss crap or post so called intelligent jokes, but this "group" that calls itself the "community" actually spoiled a lot of fun for the rest as all they contributed was a lot of crap no one ever cared about. Yet, these people whine the most... I think they completely miss the point why Fh was set up or what the actual fun was about, the discussing was never the main idea behind FH. When we started we all had a hunger for more (rare) files and especially in the best possible quality. Watching MOVIES was what it was about!!!! Most of us started the day the internet actually started, we were on a free cjb board and downloaded AND LOVED movies of 128 mb in such bad quality no one now can even imagine to be true. That love for file made Fh big, SHARING AND WATCHING MOVIES! Who ever gives a fuck about all the lame discussions some people kept typing about to satisfy their need for recognition? Im all with Doc, the best years were the first ones. Not to sound too nostalgic or complain, its just how it goes, life continues. Not many forums live longer than a few years and for a filesharing forum Fh was one of the best and stable places on the whole net for as long as it lasted -> almost TEN fucking years!!!!

Of the group that started the forum only 2 or 3 people were actualy still checking in a few times a week, just to see how things go. The same counts for the rest of the old memberbase. Real life catches up on one and that's also actually pretty much ok, no one stays 18 forever. As much as i like movies , there are other more important things in life. Having said that, it was untill last month still fun to look and browse the old database for certain files.

I also agree with doc that the "chit-chat" community knew everything better and had/s waaaay too much power. This is something im sure of the old mod team would never have liked, as we liked to be independent and NOT mainstream like SR, that DID already exist. The first years we tried to show different content and still liked watching movies. The "chit-chat" group now actually tries to be so hard to be "different" thats it's a laugh and pretty pathetic to most of the old users  Who actually cares about some of the topics outside the movie sections? I can go to a millions mainstream places ont he net and get probably better topics ont he thngs that were latly discussed at fh.

As for opening the board to new users: i have to say this was never a real option and something i myself was very much against. Too many places drew too much attention and were closed over the past decade. This may not always be visable to the normals downloading members, but it was a big concern. It's really too easy to say that Fh should have just opened their doors to stay alive and let fresh blood in. Im convinced that the reason we managed to even stay online this long, is that we actually were not as active anymore as we once used to be with over 20.000 active members at the peak. Opening up again would result in a closure for sure.

Now, how are we going to go now? Although everyone knows everything better, it is again a laugh to see people talk about how it should continue from here. There IS no mod team anymore. Yes, about 20 people had a mod status, but 16 or 17 of those were inactive for in many cases years  One of the reasons for our "succes" was that we had almost no mods or admins. The board ran itself! One of the people behind it all who ran the board for years was T, after being inactive for about 1,5 years he showed up a few weeks ago and last i know is that he would move the forum and IF anyone is still working on it now it's probably him.. (yes, you read it right, i too have no idea!). For the rest i only think Dinky and Dk were really active and posted daily, and thats about it!!! Being one of the actual old crew members i must say i trust T completely and think he'll do what he can to bring Fh back, if that won't work somehow, FH is probably gone and lost forever. Really too bad of the datebase, but face it, that was why many of us old members kept actually still going back. Not the interesting new discussions that the"community" likes and whines about so much... Personally i could not care less for the "elitist community", IF the forum comes back i would personnaly like it to be a database only, just to keep the old forumfun ALIVE for those few that are still interested! As for new "discussions", who on earth cares? There are numerous paces on the net where one could find their place, to show how good can discuss. :moon: Rather only 5 new posts a month than all the crap that was posted last years. If most of the elite would drop dead tomorrow the world would probably be a better place after all...

Cybersatan

ps: hell yeah i miss good old Fh, just read the crap here and fellt the need for a small rant. If you feel like the above is aimed at you, it probably is! just don't bother replying as i don't care about you or your opinions anyway.

Well, your rant has been an interesting read overall, but it's not quite like a group of elitist chit-chatters have dragged down FH by inventing funny captions or location-guessing, is it? :)

Having been a simple member (on/off, pretty much off lately) since 2002, I'm probably still lacking information someone like cybersatan has, regarding the forum's development. Yet, the way I see it, it has almost always been a fun place to hang around, and for some people it has even become something like a regular hangout. And why not?

Only the distribution of movie copies has mostly gone other ways, BT, DDL, you name it (who am I telling this anyway?). ed2k is still very useful in some (rare) cases, but it just isn't the easiest/safest/best way to get the latest (criterion) bluray rip. Naturally, a mostly ed2k-/movie-oriented forum that had its best time when ripping and sharing movies in 700MB-sized files via edonkey2000 felt pretty new and adventurous, had to be affected, the way things have gone technically and legally. I'm assuming most places similar to FH have seen a loss of activity and a shrinking user base? Closed registration didn't help much either, but I'm not blaming anyone and cybersatan's right, a place like FH might have long been taken down, had it not been for keeping a low profile (how do you do it, spud?). I'd like to see FH pop up again - besides, I was just about to donate when it went off  :P - it's been a nice place to go to even if it's never going to be as vital again as it was in, say, 2003.

Either way, this might be a good time to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped keep things going!

Being insignficant

Well I'm thinking back, we've had our domain display FBI warnings twice, but neither was 'us'. One was a big ed2k link portal in the same data center and the other was PirateBay in the same datacenter. We've only had a handful of cease and desists, usually 'in person', for example we've had a film producer for a horror movie request content removal (who i explained how hash distrubtion worked to), and the other times were just copyright 'troll' agencies. Needless to say the requested content to be removed is still here.

In fact, we've had more problems with malicious attacks from other sites, ranging from our ban from imageshack which was very annoying (and now lifted), to extremely damaging (banned from paypal and also now banned from google adsense)... the later two means that I just pay the bills (its not much). We've also had either concious or unconcious attempts to 'leech' the forum base, content duplication, etc. Similarly in this category, petty squabbling amongst 'sharing ideology' amongst content sharers does more damage than anti-piracy groups, for example I know certain people won't really like the quality stance taken by dead-donkey, which also is a trait shared with fileheaven, there's a split between posting pr0n and nsfw content amongst some of the users, and those that want to 'have a bit of fun'... both of which are perfectly fine standpoints but obviously split a user base.

We also only have very specialist content, design and desires, so its not like we go around posting 100% of the latest and greatest content. I doubt fileheaven would be in much trouble if they just focused on a specific type of content, for example cult and rare films, rather than having sections to maximise exposure. The inherant forum/community based approach also minimises exposure.

In terms of the site, these days ed2k is pretty much 'deprecated', ironically, I favor nntp which is decades older and way more 'open' than p2p past that initial barrier of paying $6 a month for essentially isp fees. Torrent seems popular, but is much more 'closed' and wasteful/inefficent, spending way more than $6 dollars in terms of time, effort, etc. If I had the time I'd probably rewrite the backend in python, move to provide more of a content management (collection management), and hook into nntp and what not to serve content (ie. store collections, films, etc. use the hashes to validate content and manage 'want' lists, notifying users when they are available, when better quality releases are out and what not). Time I don't really have atm, since I've been promoted 4 or 5 times in the past 3 years in my professional life.

The "Sorry for the delay, but it'll take some more days. Forum will be back online around 04/20" would suggest not. Unless it means April 2020, in which case I stand corrected.

@CS: When you say T suddenly turned up - does that mean you could contact him and ask?
I mean that would take a load off my and probably also a couple of other guys' breasts.

Just asking.

I'm still hoping for a FH comeback however unlikely that is. I can't remember the last time I used the ed2k network, but it was always helpful to check for the latest scene releases to search for on Newsgroups. Other sites serve that purpose just as well if not better I suppose, I just liked the format and blokes. Been a member on FH for over 10 years, sad to see it go. Thanks for all the effort and ed2k links over the years to everyone involved. Cheers! :beerchug:

Hello
I represent iTS, a no ratio torrent tracker. iTS' a site which aims at providing it's community with a diverse variety of quality content. The site contains high quality (x264 and xvid) non-scene rips of old, rare and also new movies ripped by very experienced rippers and conveniently sized to fit on DVDRs (AFR rips) i.e. 746mb/1.09gb/1.46gb/2.18gb etc. Here are the types of content we offer:
AFR (we have a huge collection of AFR movies, which you can hardly find on other sites)
Animation
BRRip/BDRip
Documentaries
DVDR
DVDRip/x264
DVDRip/XviD
E-Learning/Books
FLAC
HD
Music DVDR/HD
Other Shit
PC Apps
PC Games
Shorts/Extras
TV

We are a no ratio site and have a karma bonus system, so it's a friendly environment for non-seedbox users and also users with slow connections. We favour long seeding periods over brief seedbox usage.

We are only looking for active people who will actually use the site and who are specifically interested in the kind of content we offer (e.g. quality content over RARed scene crap).

Recently we have created a board for accepting new members:
http://its-apps.co.cc/.
More information: http://filenetworks.blogspot.com/2010/1 ... -open.html
If anyone is interested in joining our site, please read the filenetworks article and signup on our applications board, read the rules: http://z7.invisionfree.com/iTSApps/inde ... boardrules
and create a thread. Feel free to ask anything if you need some additional information

Shitbusters rips are posted here, on SBiG, on STF and lots of other sites. If you are looking for a Shitbusters rip and can't find it, post on the forums in /Movie requests or /Reshare requests.
