i wanted to know IF there was ever a full uncut version of dawn of the dead by George A Romero.
i have seen over the years many versions of this film, so is there a full copy out there or has someone watched all versions and edited them in to one full uncut one.

thank you

There is a 156min cut which is on a German bootleg DVD (and dubbed in German). It's the longest cut available

However, the difference in running times of various versions is not always down to censorship. For instance, the Director's Cut is shorter than the Cannes (~136mins) cut, but that's by Romero's own choice of editing.

The black AB box-set rules. It includes three dvd versions of the movie, Romero's theatrical cut, Argento's Splatter cut and the longest English version available, plus a comic too.

Yes , but it's a horrible mess. Like some random fool with nandub editing several versions into one , the music score changing and jumping all over the place.

And even it is proven to miss a few ( just a few) scenes.

which for me was the reason NOT to buy it years ago.

So NO.There is no such thing as a "full version".
Only place that ever (might have) existed was in George's own cutting room.

Looks like people have already jumped in but i'd already typed this before reading the replies ....

For the record:
The Theatrical version is both uncut and the director's prefered version
The "Director's Cut" is the rough pre-edit... this is also uncut
Argento's Version is also uncut but edited by Argento

All there is beyond these are edits with more footage but this is not footage that has been censored out of the movie in anyway shape or form. Its just an "extended edition", and the German one is an unofficial one at that.

There is indeed a german longer cut but they've just stuck in all possible footage that was cut out of the movie for artistic reasons (largely from the three alternative edits above). It isn't anymore uncensored than the theatrical verison :)

So i'd avoid using words like "cut" or "uncut" when talking about Dawn of the Dead, its all down to editing in extra scenes that Romero didn't choose to put in there.

The rumoured three hour version of DAWN never left the editing room floor.

Hi 6six6

I have the original VHS of Dawn Of The Dead (126 min. Theatrical Version) and the only thing that there is, after the Warning message, it's the compagny name, like this :

Image

There is no trailer, teaser or anything else... :(

If anyones is interrested, I can try to make a VHSRip, but I don't have a capture video card right now, so, give me some time and i'll try to buy a little box that can transfert a VHS to a DVD. Or i'll buy a capture video card.

AFAIK see no evil is currently working on an 'Ultimate' version.

All the different versions all moulded together to form a complete film.

Since the same scenes are shown from different angles, that should be interesting... its not possible without replays and 24 style shot splicing

Yeah i'm not sure he's including the same scenes, just different angles.

I understood there were scenes in some versions not included in others.
