Not sure if this is a settings problem somewhere or if it's something I need to call my provider about so I thought I'd ask

Since I switched to cable it seems like my conn is constantly re-setting itself, I have had like 25 lost conn messages on emule just this morning and about a minute or two later seems fine again, but it's not just emule it's happening on pretty much everything.
Any ideas?

Thanks
Kat

USB and xp?

Second button on My Computer>Properties
Hardware>Device Manager
Network Adapters>2nd button on your cable modem>Properties
Power Managerment>uncheck allow m$ to turn off the device to save power

Do the same for all your usb root hubs
aka. "Universal Serial Bus Controllers"

In control panel, go to power manager and turn off system standby.

that's the most common reason for service interruption on USB modems, but I'm an ADSL user so can't comment on cable connections.

Best advice I can give is to google around for your isp and for your modem to see if there are any known problems.

It could be their servers having trouble. This is the case for my isp who still have large scale downtime and problem areas because of the blast virus. My isp has a homepage where it tells you the current status of their servers and the connection, and dailup and broadband both have orange light status (red fully down, orange problems, green all good :) )

Got a friend using cable atm. He's ready to switch to ADSL. Crappy company, crappy service. Hasn't had good luck with it since day one.

i used to get this about a year ago

i went to the wall and removed some of the extra connectors that the engineers had installed for a digital cable box as this was weakening the signal that the cable modem was getting

never been disconnected since
