so i finally got a dvd burner and my first attempt at avi(divx/xvid(?) to dvd+r was with nero vision 3. the video came out great but the audio was completely garbled even though i could slightly make out the dialogue.

i uninstalled it and tried again with nero vision 4. the video came out even better but i got the same result with the audio.

has anybody heard of this? im goin to try winavi 7, but im expecting the same result...

Actually, i think lux means why re-encode at all?

Get a decent piece of playback hardware. Your just wasting atm, time, effort and quality.

Ive got a halo edition xbox with a custom dvd-drive window sitting about 3 feet from me waiting to be modded.

the real reason why i bother spending my time with encoding discs is because i make copies for my mom and my girlfriend.

i dont burn enough movies to warrant the price of two more xboxes.

so, poppin a disc in and lettin a noob app handle it while i sleep is good enough quality for them and as little work as possible for me.

until, i run into problems like this.

*sigh* ...so, winavi seems to have worked like a charm. i encoded an xvid avi in 25 minutes flat. problem is, nero vision 4 wouldnt let me burn vob's correctly so i tried nero vision 3. THAT told me i needed to buy the dvd-plugin. so, im dl'ing a newer version of nero 6 with all the plugins registered.

(update) EDIT: there has got to be a codec or something somewhere in my pc that is causing the audio to be fucked up. im clearing out and re-installing all of my software. if that doesnt work, im re-formatting this motherfakker.

Did your try ConvertXtoDVD? Works fine for me... Uses different shit than Nero I think. Maybe it will work :wink:

edit: it turned out to be the codec that was used to encode the avi file im trying to re-encode. im burning other movies now without a problem.

winavi7 = 30min encode = good enough for the uninformed

my problem now is, everything that i DL which was encoded with Xvid, I am unable to burn to a dvd without getting bad audio.

any ideas on how to alleviate that?
