This is funny, I have here a pr0n which has exactly the same hash as re-animator. Wonder whether my client will try to exchange chunks....

Warning : unable to hash downloaded part recieved incomplete/incorrect hash set
or something....?

EDIT : and you haven't installed some rubbish piece of software like diskkeeper recently ?

I have been downloading a file, and throughout the download it showed this message.

It played fine with no errors after it was finished, but if you change the slightest little thing with the file name... you change the hash. :?

filename, extension, etc are independant of hash calculation.

I know, I always thought that, but for this file... it was a different story. It had to have the same name or it would hash differently. Must have been something to do with the hash error because I had never had it happen before, so I always check to make sure now. It might have been bad luck on my end. Every little thing I did to the file name changed the hash, but if I remember right, no matter what I did to the file name it always gave the same wrong hash... or maybe that was the right one and everyone else has the bad one :P

Don't ask me to explain it, just happened...

Hmmm, I might just try a little experiment, see if I can dig up that file, see if it still does it, ehhehe

When I first installed diskeeper a long while back I left all the shit running in the background, and it used to kill my downloads. Now I just stop it running at start up and running in the background and just start it up when I need to.

Same files...

Ok, I think I know what happened.(talking out of ass here)

-Oh, and I did restart this bloody file at the time to see if that fixed it and it didn't, it still hash errored all the time... hehe.

I kept getting the hash error all the way till the file finished. When the file finished it was 'changed' in some way. With the original name emule 'knew'(known.met?) the file and just thought it was the one I just finished. With the name change, it decided it needed to rehash it then came up with the different one, which it still has.

Don't know if that is right, but it is the only thing I can think of.

I did successfully share this file for a long time(with the orginal name while downloading and after), with loads of uploads, and I never heard about anyone getting bad chunks or anything... but I never hunt down people for bad chunks myself so...
