if the right/click preview doesn't work, you can find the .met file it is associated with, then copy past that file to your desktop or another folder, then rename it to avi.

Try AviPreviewC + EdWatch (add GUI to the former)

no no no
w8.
Satan u did not get question
incomplete?
ok. Light alloy will eat that. but wmp will say "hey. i am too dumb to understanf format of file"
Avipreview - great tool
but u can preview only first block. i mean till first white space in file
so
VideoLan can preview even after white spaces. it can show u all dl -ed data
all u need 160kb! Avipreview need much more to be able to preview.

That's not the same program. The one I have in mind is a command line proggy called AviPreviewC that allows you to see everything you have downloaded so far, even if you don't have the first/last chunk.

Yeah, videolan is what I use to preview(that's the only thing I use it for except for problem files that won't play in any other player), just right click then preview... works like a dream. Another thing to note is don't have the 'Create backup to preview' checked.

I've tried videolan and it works pretty well, but when the parts that I've downloaded are over and it still tries to play on, it starts to use massive cpu power. It will consume everythin so that I'm barely able to do a ctrl-alt-del and shut down the program. Is there some setting I have missconfigured?

Hmmm, everything was sunshine and lollypops in videolan world till you said something, hehhe

I just tried videolan on a couple files... same problem. I know it has worked before, must be something with the particular files. I'll continue testing when I don't have 2 files about to finish. :D
