1) When sharing, is it best to share a lot, or only a few movies at the same time?

I ask this, because my upload is (very) limited atm, at around 4-7 KB/s and I just posted to movieposts with movies that I couldn't find before on this site. I'd like to spread as fast as possible, but I don't know which way is the fastest.

2) When it's best to share only two or three movies, will that "damage" my queue on other files?

3) Does it really help to select "Release" on the shared file's Upload?

4) What is powersharing?

Note: in around 4 weeks I'm moving to my new house and uploadspeeds will go up. :D

1) one movie at a time, that's a no other answer question. Sharing lots at once is counter productive in fact. Sharing one to the point of spread is better than spreading several files thinly :)
2) i'm not sure what you mean, do you mean your downloads? theoretically, queues are per file, time is the biggest factor in negotiating queues, but you get a small boost by sharing with peers since your credits are stored remotely . ie. you store credits for other clients, whilst they store credits for you. The credit allocation is generally agnostic, but its only by what the client sees you give it, not what you give to the network as a whole. Therefore, it may have a slight negative effect if you never upload anything but your shared files (ie not what your downloading). That's assuming people you download from aren't downloading the files your shared files.
3) yes greatly, its a multiplier that's applied. If your client has powershare, even better.
4) its an even higher boost to a single file, its not an official feature but in many clients on the official homepage's mod section.

1) I made two releases and I want to share them both. Please? ;) I also see my downloads being uploaded, which makes the total 8 files. Is that already too much? If so, do I need to stop downloading? I temporarily removed 56 VN's I had in my share
2) yes, I meant downloads. Answer is clear and understood.
3) both files are on "release" now, my downloads mostly on "very low".
4) OK, don't have that, maybe later.

Thanks again for the help!

1) I'd maybe retract one release and do them sequentially? I have several hundred downloads, if you have powershare it doesn't matter, your powershared items will be mostly shared
2)
3) put all your downloads on very low, and all your shares on release
4) probably look into getting it ;) I honestly couldn't tell you what client has it, i'm still using an old morphxt which has it... i assume new versions will have it too.

1) Mmm, it is an option of course, but I feel more for sharing both. Can't explain, it's just a feeling.
3) done
4) I've been looking into it for a short time, but can't find it so far. How do you search for clients? I used "emule client powershare" as a search term.

Are you German, perhaps? ;)

Thanks for the help, killingjokezzz! I downloaded eMule Extreme and will look into it shortly.

:wacky: No I'm not German, but emule-mods.de is a good resource for emule mods. Not MorphXT for some reason though. I use StulleMule myself, which itself is based on MorphXT with a few extras.

Hehe, I was just kidding with the fact that you put two German sites on, nevermind. ;)

I'll check StulleMule as well. Thanks again.

New question:

So far I'm still using the standard client for eMule. How can I see how much I have uploaded in total for a movie?

When I restart my PC or eMule itself, in the "Shared Files" folder I can only see what I've uploaded since the restart.

Addition to question above:

I see a percentage bar below in my window of "Shared files", but sometimes the percentage doesn't go up, it goes down instead. Is the percentage shared related to the amount of time you share it?

Shared directory tab for upload per file, stats for... er stats. If its not showing totals, set it to show everythging. Should be total in brackets and session outside of brackets.

Well, I understand what it says in the stats. It's just that percentage bar that goes up and down which is a bit of a mystery to me. :wacky:

Another new question:

What's a good spread? The stats for one of my releases is as follows:

Code:
Carnage.Road.DVDrip.Xvid-Slayer.avi
Network details

Total sources:  19 (from 5.03 million user)
Total full sources:  12

My eMule client says that I have spread 2.09 GB so far.

How many full sources does a movie need? And how many GBs should I spread myself?

If it's got 12 full sources you could drop it out of PS/release now. I tend to upload 5-7 GB for a 700 MB movie before dropping it to auto (so approx 10x). Obviously a very popular file will spread quicker. Varies.

I think you must have uploaded more than that to spread a file. Even I've uploaded more of this movie

Feedback from HHAH killingjokezzz [FH][FTi][pd101] on [StulleMule v4.4]
File name: Carnage.Road.DVDrip.Xvid-Slayer.avi
File type: Video
Size: 699.217 MB
Downloaded: Complete
Transferred: 896.811 MB (2.586 GB)
Requested: 278 (572)
Accepted Requests: 183 (576)
Complete sources: 9 (4)

Well, my standard eMule client says this:

Total:

Requests: 544
Accepted uploads: 344
Transferred: 2.10 GB

My upload is only 7 kb/s, and I'm sharing Succubus and Carnage Road simultaneously. Maybe that explains why you have uploaded more of this movie than me. But it could also be that the totals in my client are incorrect, because otherwise I couldn't explain why it has 12 full sources according to the stats.

Anyone up for an explanation?

In the meantime I'll still have it in my share, I'll put it back to Auto soon, so Succubus can spread faster.

In the near future I'll have 13 more movies to release :D

I think you've done fantastically well with only 7 kb/S upload :beerchug:

Maybe other people powershared it so hard that it spread faster?

My upload is low, but I keep my PC on for all but two nights a week (and all days of course ;))

edit: mmm, just checked the stats, and now it says 6 full sources. Is this what people call "leeching"?

I wouldn't believe those stats too much. They aren't that reliable and vary each time you look at them.

Is there any other way to check how many full sources a movie has when you released it?
