Download partially disappeared

This is something totally new to me in eMule:

I just came home from work and I checked if my download was finished, as I was downloading Hell.Of.The.Living.Dead.1981.DVDRip.XviD-Ace.avi to complete my Video Nasties collection. When I left this morning, I still had something like 7.5 MB to go, so I had a good chance to finish the download today.

To my big surprise I see now that the movie is far from complete and my eMule tells me that I still have to download 205 MB.

Not that I'm frustrated or very angry or the like, because I have the time and am not eagerly waiting for this movie to watch it immediately when it gets complete (I still have several hundreds to watch), but I'm very curious about how this could happen. It never occurred before and if I know what causes it, I can count with it in the future.

sounds like a corrupted part fest. Grab something like peerguardian and an ipfilter list so that you can weed out some filthy 0-part spreaders.

If you get a corrupted block, it redownloads that again.

Have you checked your logs? Check them on the server tab.

I downloaded and installed Peerguardian 2.

1) Does eMule now try and re-download the same corrupted parts again, or does it "know" those parts are corrupt and try to re-download them elsewhere?
2) Does it only stop re-downloading the same corrupted parts when I detect the 0-part spreaders?
3) How can I detect the 0-part spreaders?

1) it will try from wherever, if its the same corrupt peer the same will happen again
2) nope, not that i know of
3) look in your logs for "received corrupted part", sometimes it gives you an ip (perhaps turn on verbose). Block their ips if they do it frequently.

2) OK, so I really have to block those bad guys.
3) I can only see the IP of the server I'm connected to. I assume that not the entire server has to be blocked. In the logs it says only what I posted above.

About verbose: when I search for verbose, I get a band's site (interesting maybe, but not suitable for this purpose

) and I get sites with some program that reads text out aloud. Sorry for being n00bish, but what's the use of that? (In this situation, I mean.)

verbose is detailed output mode, every program worth its salt will have it. Its needed for detailed problem analysis and more often than not, debug output during development. Its under the usual place. Look through your options.

Don't block a server... that would be bad :lol:

Now I'm just hoping that it will give me the IP of the bad guy that is spreading the corrupted parts so I can block him (assuming it's a male person

).

edit: Hell of the Living Dead is now complete, so I guess I have to wait for another time to catch the bad guy.
