*cough* beginner*cough-ha*
If you use Gkot you better NOT set BITRATE yourself unless you know what you're doing....beginners let gkot set the bitrate - it will calculate this for you ..
So at the first pass xvid you don't have to fill in shit - the bitrate to code at will be calculated by gnot ( by your settings) and passed on to Vdub & xvid...
Hehe you thought it was that easy eh ?
so at birate tab select : Calculate average bitrate & set 1 cd = 700 mb - make sure Calculate frame overhead is selected
also set sound at 1vbr mp3 - the quality , at audio I leave you to decide but try and stay above 128
Then go to resolution tab ; set resolution as you see fit ; but don't push your luck - you'll probably have to adjust this later on...
Then hit save and encode (bottom left)
Then a new menu will appear ; select lancos if it's a sharp dvd
If you have to de- interlace use field deinterlace here ; NOT the fast one..
Finally at bottom right, select 5% compressibility check - and let it run for 10 minutes ; you will be thrown back to the resolution Tab;Now at the bottom make sure that the one number stays close to 0.175 and the other between 55% and 70% - If not crop resolution until they APROX. do !
Hit save and encode again if it has closed itself, and then bottom left hit it again.
Now you will be thrown to the codec tabs:
First go to audio : select audio , then either just mux (ac3)or mp3 vbr
then go to Xvid GO TO advanced options and select all shit you already know....
Do the same for second pass and then hit Add job to encoding queue at the codec .....
Very crude and basic but you should get a decent rip now....
Don't be ashamed to crop resolution - it's your first rip.....
It's better to have 900bitrate at 512 width than a 600bitrate at a width of 640
vaya con dios man
