I've just put a clean install of win xp on a mates comp. He is moving to Thailand in a couple of weeks and he wont have any net access until his house is built.

What codecs should i install on his comp so he can enjoy all his movies while he's waiting?

I've got the new XviD and the new ffdshow but what else?

I don't think it's a good idea to install a pack like nemo, or am i wrong?

AC3 Filter, XviD, ffdshow, Divx (possibly, i`ve had some stuff not be decoded by XviD and only work with DivX)

And VLC Media Player should about cover it, maybe Real/Quicktime Alternatives depending on what he wants (to) watch/has.

That should just about cover it......and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NO CODEC PACKS!!!!!

you should just install MPlayer with a frontend, it covers all, cause if it can't find windows' codecs it uses it's own ones. and it's quite simple.
MPlayer Frontend
