Hi,

I got a problem with a DivX movie that I wanted to burn!
The movie's size is 704MB and you can't overwrite when you want to burn as ISO!
Also, Nero doesn't recognize 800MB cds.

So, I wanted to know if there's a possibility to reduce the size of the file to at least 699MB ?

Thanks in advance

Hey new-9

You have to set nero to extend it's writing capabilities in the preferneces of your recorder.

There is an option - "expert features"

Set this to say 80/90 mins and then Nero should recognise your 80 min cdr, and burn to it!

Check out Nero Over-Burn Guide for more info

Failing that the only thing to do is to re-encode the movie with a lower bitrate or resolution.

Or if it's a matter of megabytes, chopping off the credits should do the trick.

http://www.doom9.org & http://www.dvdrhelp.com have lots of tutorials on how to re-encode avis

http://www.dvdrhelp.com has some great ones on what you need!

yes you can, go to 'file'->'preferences'->'Expert features' tab-> enable overburn...

it doesn't but you can write 800MB on it - with overburn enabled
but 704MB can easly fit on 700MB CD

if you really want it (but it's BAD idea) you can cut the end (VirtualDub) or even worse you can recompress it

EDIT: oops, too late :)

and yet
if your version of Nero was with cd-rw (oem)
u won't be able to overburn CD's
u have to buy it or use cd-key for normal version
if we r talking about 5.x.x.x

Hi y'all,

thanks for your answers!
The thing with Nero ist that I already had everything set in the expert feature tab! (overburn = enabled)
But it doesn't even let me burn! It says sumtin like 'can't burn, disc doesn't have enough space .. bla bla'. Sumtin like that.

I'd like to try the re-encoding thing, but I can't find a tutorial at http://www.dvdrhelp.com !?
Can anyone give me a direct link to a re-encode / re-size tutorial?

Thanks

OK the best thing for you to do (and the quickest) is to resize the picture of the video to a slightly smaller size. The tool every-one uses is virtualDub

Resizing Video :

Suppose you want to resize a video from 720x480 to 640x420, then you would:

(1) open the avi file; Two windows are shown which show the input video (left) and the output video (right).

(2) Under the Video menu, select "Full Processing mode." Select Filters. Click on the Add button, click on the resize filter, and click OK. Type in the new resolution of 352 and 192 and select bicubic for the filter mode. Click OK to the dialog boxes.

(3) Under the File menu, click on Save as Avi, type in a filename, and click on the Save button. You should see a window open which describes the processing of the video including how long it should take to process.

The only other way is a full encode and that could take hours (reducing the bitrate etc).

Or if you play around with virtualdub and only need a couple of MB chopping off you could "cut" the credits off the end of the film.

Don't use the wizard. Create a new compilation with following: No multisession, Burn method: Disk at once. When you'll try to burn, Nero will tell you there's not enough space on CD and ask you if you want to overburn it.
