I'm running it now (dual booting with XP and spending most of my time in XP)

No, I see no need in vista at this time.

Setting up a laptop in it is my main experience, and it was essentially just relocated functionality and nag screens it add. It warned about a pre-installed virus scanner for pete's sake

No, i'm fine with XP. I am going to ensure all of my hardware is *nix compatible in the future, that is more important to me.

I installed about three weeks ago XP. Much too early to do another downgrade so early.
:D

Hey, I said I installed the junk, I never said I run it. :-)

My XP ist only a vmware image. Just to check whether the program I develop compiles and runs on Linux and XP.

I am still 110% Linux. :-)

With all the DRM on it and how much it would nag me to do things I can't see a single reason to upgrade

Don't you have a colleague you hate? Would be a nice way to appear friendly, help him to 'upgrade' and at the same time to get even with him.

I was dual booting both, but as soon as all my shit was fine in Vista I switched to it. It just seems to run better than XP on this laptop.

However it hould be noted that my other machine, a desktop of similar power, was the opposite, Vista ran like a proper crapper on it.

Define require? There are games that utilise it yes, but they all can run with DX9 with the effects missing.
