I have only been able to download one file. Is that because most here aren't up to date, or do I do something wrong? I click the link directly from the forum and emule opens it (annoyingly so in a NEW Emule program each time). But it never seems to connect from that...

It shouldn't do that, its likely that's due to a misconfiguration. Close down all emules, load one up... check the options, you'll want to click the ed2k link button so its in charge of taking links and have a look through for one that mentions only "one instance".

Shutdown emule after setting these options and, then restart. The other issue could be your browser, I'd hope your using Firefox?

You can't run two emules from the same installation, there will be port and file locks preventing this.

I'm having a similar problem. I've been using emule fine for a while now, but today I installed the new version and it won't connect. What's going on? Is anyone else having these problems?

OK nevermind that. I just had to update the server list.

But I'm still not happy that it deleted the file I was downloading. :matrix:
