I'm using VLC 0.6 , it works fine but sometimes when I preview a movie and I want to skip forward to a certain point, let's say to see more than the credits at the beginning, it just freezes the pc altogether :D If it's normal behavior it's ok, but if there's a better option I'd love to know, I can't check a movie out if there's not a good amount of % already
thanks :D

The best way to preview more than the beginning of a movie is playing the corresponding .part file located in the temp folder, providing that you have downloaded enough of the movie. You can find the name of the temporary file with right click> details (the "general" tab) in the transfers window.
I use The KMPlayer, but VLC should work just fine.

What I do, is save the .part file as a .avi file. That way I can do anything I want.

What you describe, mascareiro, is the result of not having downloaded enough of the movie. When it misses a part, it freezes over. If you try this with the .avi file you just saved (according to what I wrote above), you can skip ahead, to see if you have other parts available.
