so, i got everything setup pretty well, take a look at:
http://forum.dead-donkey.com/viewtopic.php?t=15451

i was downloading music and everything was goin great until today when i switched over to movies. i grabbed like 10 of the most popular movie files and maxed out my bandwidth at about 70kb/up, 360kb/down. about an hour later, my numbers drop to 3kb/up, 70/down. at any given time ill have 5 uploads at about 500B/s each, and my download speed is distributed between my files.

i would say i got slapped with traffic shaping, but the last time it happened (on the other side of the U.S., with a different ISP), my speeds were only around 7kb/s, and i had been running emule for about a year before it happened....

any ideas?

Well if your upload hadn't dropped i'd have guessed it was emule's ratio / anti-leech features.
360kb/s / 3 = 120kb/s

You'd have to upload at 120kb/s to maintain 360kb/s download.

I take it you have a little r in the bottom left of your mule window? Big R means your on restricted bandwidth mode (your either violating/prioritising a download too much, utilising a friend's slot, or you've hit th 1:3 ratio).

however, when the ratio hits your upload wouldn't drop so I think your likely on restricted traffic. if you have a high id, no R and see plenty of blue then yet, your probably being throttled. NTL do this in the uk for example.

hmmm. i dont think ive ever seen an r/R in on my emule window. the weird thing is the connection jumped back up to normal at midnight. i would say maybe our ISP has a daily allowance of data transfer before throttling, but after it went back up, its been normal for 14 hours now, instead of only getting 1 hour at high speeds like before.

as long as it isnt permanent, im happy :beerchug:

as always, thanks for your input spud, much appreciated
