I deleted the wrong file. I had two versions of a movie, of which one didn't fit on to the DVD. Accidentally I deleted the other one, using Shift+Del. Does anyone know a way to recover that file? Or do I need to re-download it?

Lots of data recovery apps around, when I need one I just get a recommendation from someone and 'procure' a copy. Can't think of any off the top of my head though.

If you are attempting data recovery then do it fast, the more you use the drive the smaller your chances of recovery.

Sorry I cannot help more my friend, but this really is not my area of expertise.

i never have much looks with recoveries and in fact i can't recommend any software for this.

I'd love that if you find some decent software you could perhaps do a small writeup in hardware/software, because i want something on standby incase i loose some files.

Tried all sorts of 'undelete' software but they just never work.

EasyRecovery Pro has worked for me twice in the past. Fairly simple to use. I keep all my "stuff" on partitions, drives etc. separate from the OS and progs. Easier to recover if the partition or drive is not being constantly written to. Good luck with that... I'm a shift+delete type too.

like Takyon says, as soon as that file is deleted the space is allocated as free & could be used at anytime by windows so you may already be out of luck. I have 2 recovery programs on here & both work, but 2/3rds when I've been in your situation theyve not been able to recover everything, just a percentage. pm me your email & I will seek them out & email them to you 8)

Easy Recovery Pro has worked for me in the past. And I also suggest GetDataBack (NTFS or FAT)
Either of these programs has always saved my bacon

I suggest easy recovery because you can do scans based on the situation you want to recover i.e formated drive, deleted files, corrupt drive etc etc

Let us know if you have any luck, which ever solution you use!

Probably easily available with a crack on a torrent site, but I've emailed you 1 of the proggies that I was talking about. I really must sort out my drives as that one was real hard to find & I hope it works for you

It said "No files found", but it doesn't really matter as I have solved the problem in a different, let's say, more creative way.

that pretty much sums up every data recovery tool i've used, all of them either did find not anything or it was badly corrupted.
