Hi,

Some times it happens to me that I want to get a movie and the movie is getting downloaded just fine but when I want to take a preview nothing comes up even though the preview option is available but nothing shows up in any player what so ever. I waited for the entire movie to be downloaded and then try to watch it but nothing even then.

What I notice (while being downloaded) is the following:
1. Right clicked on the movie name while being downloaded.
2. Clicked on Details.
3. Under the NAME tab almost all files shown have the file type as .AVI
except few will have .ISO or .ZIP or .RAR or .TXT etc.

The movies which run just fine they show all the files have the .AVI or .MPG file types. But the movies that shows some different types will not run.

Is there any way posible to some how be able to watch those movies as well? I am listing one example here. Please let me know.

ed2k: PROVOCAZIONE%20[Moana%20Pozzi,Petra%20Scharbach].avi  [643.72 Mb] [Stats]
This movie has more other links available as well but the quality is not DVDRIP thats why I wanted this particular one.

Thanks in advance.

.avi, .mpg--> audio/video

.iso--> disc image file (you need to burn to disc or mount to watch)

.zip, .rar--> compressed archive (most likely subtitle files inside if the file name is a film)

.txt--> just a text file

karstmobile,

Thanks for your reply.

The movie I tried downloading is type of either an .AVI or .MPG
But when I see the DETAILS and then under NAME TAB, it shows that 1 or 2 or 3 files are .zip or .rar or .iso among the majority of the type of the movie (an .AVI or .MPG) that I am downloading. When the download finishes the movie type is either an .AVI or .MPG but it doesn't run in any player.

But when I download a movie and all the files (under DETAIL then under NAME TAB) shows the same file types as the movie (an .AVI or .MPG) then that movie just run fine.

My question was how to run those movies that had those .zip or .rar files included in the download but the FINISHED FILE still has the FILE TYPE .AVI or .MPG and still not watchable thru any of my players (KMPlayer, VLC, Media Player, DIVX player) etc.

ed2k: OK$$$%20Tinto%20Brass%20-%20Spiando%20Marina%20-%20Debora%20Caprioglio.avi  [623.48 Mb] [Stats]

take a look at this. try downloading it and then from list right click on it then go to DETAIL then click on NAME tab and see there is a file of type .ZIP now when the movie gets downloaded it will have the type .AVI but it will not run at all. My question is why it doesn't run and if there is a way to run it?

Thanks once again for your help.

I tried that last link to see if I could understand what you're posting here. Just by reading it I didn't get it, sorry.

I checked the names of the files associated with the link you posted, and 14 of them are .avi files, which are moviefiles of course and they should play fine, both in preview and after you finished them.

One of the files is a .rar file, but it's a PC game which is archived into a .rar, so I wonder if you were looking for this instead of the movie (I don't think so, I presume you want the movie). When previewing a .rar file while it i still being donloaded, you can only see what files are in the archive, but you can't play any of them.

Coming back on the moviefiles: how are you trying to play them after you finished? You just look up the file in your Emule/Download folder and then click them? Or something different?

Sounds like just a coincidence that the files that won't work have alternate extensions. If the file name that is most common matches what you are looking for, it should be ok.

Do you get an error when trying to play them?

karstmobile,

Thanks for your help once again.

Well I right click on this file while being downloaded and then click on preview (by the way I am using VLC 0.8.6c) VLC opens up and asks me to reindex the file and I click on NO then it tires to play the file but no AUDIO/VIDEO comes up just a black screen yet the time in the bottom left hand corner keeps increasing as if the file is being played.

After the download finishes, I open my VLC then click on FILE then click on OPEN FILE and then I choose the movie I want to play but still the same results as I mentioned above (no audio video but time is running). The same happens with all my players KMPlayer, DivX player, Media player.

The movies that do not have any other file types in the NAMES tab, they all preview fine and they all play fine as well.

Why a game file comes in the movie any ways?

Thanks for all your help.

Sorry forgot to mention the following.

If there is a .rar or .zip or any other file type in the NAMES tab then why when the full down load finishes I get only 1 file and that is the .AVI file only and that does not run.

Si I assume that this .rar is some how being embeded in this .AVI file and makes it not to run? I am sure I am wrong but do not have enough knowledge if this yet, sorry :(

Please explain how it works, thanks.

The file doesn't have a .rar. or .zip embedded in it. For some reason someone has just falsely renamed the file. Maybe to hide what it really is.

Not sure why you are having trouble with the file. Which file is it?

karstmobile,

Once again thanks for all your help. I just started downloading it again and now at least the preview is working some how. Even thu that a .ZIP file still is in the NAME tab.

But thanks any ways. If I have a problem with any other one I will try to seek help then again and I hope you will not mind it :)

Glad it is working. I didn't have any issues with the file:

Not every file you Q up on emule & have a partial complete of will preview regardless of whatever player you are using. There is many many fake files & by using sites like these (& theres dozens if not hundreds of them) you are guaranteeing that the file you are downloading is the real deal. I for one & I'm sure everyone else has also encountered this in their early days, has downloaded plenty of fake files from emule so be careful what you download

ok i think i understand whats going on here.
Ive just added this to my q and because this is porn some one has renamed it so that their wife/girlfriend /mother etc dont know its porn, when the d/l finishes he/she will rename the file with the avi extention and away you go porn.
ed2k: OK$$$.Tinto.Brass.-.Spiando.Marina.-.Debora.Caprioglio.avi  [623.48 Mb] [Stats]
becomes
[PC-game] Test driver unlimitedd +Crack Ita .rar
then back again
It's happened to me occasionaly when i thought i was getting a PC game, didn't bother to preiview and ending up with what i thought was a corrupt rar untill i changed the file extention to avi and i got call of duty allright
But its worth checking the name as the original filename is likely to be there, in this case i cant see any tag etc anywhere but would have thought this would be better
ed2k: Spiando%20Marina%20-%20Debora%20Caprioglio%20(Tinto%20Brass).avi  [623.48 Mb] [Stats]
