I'm using MorphXT, and with it comes the ability to give more people friendslots. I know how to do that and how to view which friends have a slot etc.

But I don't know if I can see a friendslot given by someone else to me. Is there any icon that shows up when another friend gives me a slot?

I've searched in the FAQ and the Help files of both Emule and MorphXT, but I couldn't find anything on it. In my downloadscreen I can see for example a small green key in the client's icon. Or in the "Status" column, I can see an asterisk behind my QR, for example: QR 104 (15:34 h)*

Does anyone what these mean? Or how I can see if someone else gave me a slot?

Any help will be appreciated.

When I give you a friendslot, the little red heart on your icon turns green, but I would like to know how I can see that you gave me one.

I dont know of any client that can tell you if youve been given a friendslot :?
On this extreme that I've been using for a while now, there is only 1 friendslot. MorphXT gives you many more than 1 & also the ability to increase the percentage of your upload speed to friendslots in the options.
best thing to do is a madmanmarz & send messages daily begging for a friendslot then youre almost guaranteed to get one if nobody else has one & thus grabbing you the file quicker

The use of red and green in emule really pisses me off, being colourblind. Thankfully right click -> details on a user shows if you have given them a friendslot. As far as I am aware there is no way of telling if someone has given you a friendslot, although I reckon if you are constantly downloading from someone then there's a good chance they have, unless the file in question is the only file they have shared.

OK, so concluding I can say that eMule is NOT telling you whether someone gave you a slot or not (wow, that has a nice ring to it ;)).

Anyone know what these mean?

New question on firendslots (stll using the Morph): whenever I give someone a friendslot, my upload to them diminishes. Instead of say, 15 kB/s, the upload is now 1 kB/s. Which is worse than regular userr get. So the only advantage now for the friend slots is that they don't need the queue, the download all the time. But I want to increase their speed. How do I do that?

Oh, and if anyone knows the answer for the question posted above this one, it'd be appreciated :beerchug:

are the morph preferences set correctly? check all to see if the upload percentage for FS's isn't set low. Also make sure your max upload can stay consistently filled, set a 1 or 2 kb/s less than the absolute max of your bandwidth. Sometime morph gets confused when you want it to do "50" and it can only see "48" and will open many slow slots or squash FS/PS slots. which morph are you using? I had a similar problem with versions 9/10 but not with new version 11.

I'm not sure about the Morph settings. I'm using the newest version, v11.3 and I have set it as follows.

In Mod options I changed these:

Upload management
- Friends: Global dataspeed: 3 (was 3)
- Friends: Max Global Datarate Limit: 90 (was 100)
- Friends: Max client dataspeed: 0 (was 0)

- Slot limiter: Limit at 60 slots (was Upload speed/3kBps)

So... I hope these settings improve stuff. Please tell me if I'm doing something wrong, and if I should change settings, please tell me where they are, as the morph settings are kind of a labyrinth.

Mmm, it doesn't seem to affect the upload for friendslots a lot: now they are below 1 kB/s :(

What to do to make it so friendslots get the fastest upload? Are there any other settings I should change?

Got about the same troubles with StulleMule, as soon as I give away a FS the connection on that one drops from 2 kbps to even lower :wacky: Dunno whats causing it since it seems all settings are correct

I usually used PowerShare to target the file instead of a specific user. If you want to get a file to a particular person, there are much better ways than p2p and ed2k.

If the file isn't very popular, it works out the same as a friends slot anyway.

Mmm, maybe I should just stop giving out friendslots, as other people are getting the file faster now than my friends with the friendslots...

reading the manual helps :P

settings should be:

- Friends: Global datarate: 0
- Friends: Max Global Datarate Limit: 100
- Friends: Max client dataspeed: 0

- Slot limiter: No limit

tick Infinite Queue
untick Don't remove spare trickle slot

and remember that your emule max upload speed should be ~80% of your actual upload speed.

Yeah, that manual. I couldn't figure it out, it was a bit too much. Thanks for pointing this out, elguaxo, now it's working like I want it to be.

Upload speeds vary heavily and eMule (as spud once quoted) is not reliable when it comes to constant download speeds.
I used to notice that download speed are most constant when I am AFK (not doing anything). Other than that they might as well be random.

I don't know about any way to check if you have been given a friend-slot. I used to think this is the case when I am downloading from the same user for a very long time (just like George Tatum mentioned).

What you can see is the users you have given a friendslot, in stullemule the heart next to the friends eMule nick is green when a FS is given and red for non FS. Using the settings from gx on Stullemule gives me maximum upload speed (or the speed I set it to) for as long as I keep the FS active and/or the user stays online. Download speeds indeed tend to vary a lot
