Hi everyone

Been trying to connect to any server since 3 days, i get the message server appears to be dead or the message timed out. I 've been online since long time and then suddenly i can not log to any server. any idea why or how can i solve this problem.

The donkeyservers are dead now and the ones that are still running (exluding the fakes and what not) are having trouble handling the sudden inflow of users. Till it clears out most people, me included, are using Kad only.

I have noticed quite a few ALT DonkeyServers appearing, not certain about trusting these ones. I mean who the hell knows?

excuse me for my ignorance but i am using emule plus v 1.2 b . all i do is search and download. what is KAD and is it in this version or not. I really find the whole thing not that easy to understand how it works.
Can anybody clarify a little?

KAD is a serverless network where you connect and search directly against other KAD clients.

ED2K without kad needs a server to publish your list of files and for you to search against. It essentially serves as an indexer of content and you find something then connect directly to a peer to download.

In emule you will have two tabs at the top, one says KAD and one says Servers. In the bottom right of emule, there's a little globe with two arrows, they both need to be green. iirc, top one is KAD connection and bottom is server connection.

Actually they are both green but on the top there are no bottoms that say Kad or ED2k

Transfer
Message
Servers
.... and so on

I am using plus v 1.2 B !!! what is the better , using ED2K or Kad ?

Lots of people say Kad atm, because of server trouble with BREIN, a Dutch anti piracy group.

Bottom left; should see something like that. KAD: connected / ED2k: connected. If you got green arrows your connected.

Note: Connect, Kad, Servers is what you should see along the top.


Ditch the mod if its causing problems; get something like a new morphXT (backup your old emule). Make sure you do an upgrade, not a new install.

I had a feeling something like this was likely to happen after Razorback being seized and reading about German anti-piracy laws, which TBH appear quite contradictory, some reports were pushing for jail sentences, while others said it was a minor offence. I have only used Kad since Razorback was taken down, I'll only connect to a server if my Kad bootstrap needs updating, and this will only happen to occasional emule users which is me these days.
