I've just managed to burn a dual layer disk on my new writer with 3x game ISOs on it.
2 of the 3 ISOs install fine via daemon tools but the 3rd (which boots from hard drive) wont boot. Daemon tools mounts it then thinks for a while & unmounts it again. This is an ISO that is just slightly too big to fit onto a single layer disk.

Is it not possible to burn an oversized ISO as a UDF data file? Have I no choice but to burn the ISO as an image file?

Any help would be appreciated

You can burn it as a UDF data file.

Can you copy the ISO back to the HD or is the DL disk knackered?

I've tried to copy it back to drive on 2x NEC DVD writers that simply hated this brand of dual layer disk when I tried using them both to burn with. Neither will copy it back (cyclic redundancy check).

But.. I can copy it back to drive on this new Pioneer writer that burned the disk :wacky:

What do you think? firmware upgrades or is it just bad media ?

you say its a game? delete the french.

Works nearly everytime for me. They are useless and annoying and won't be needed :wacky:

For example, Two Worlds was too big to burn, so I stripped out the foreign languages since it was all dub and bloat.

Never saw any real justification for burning to DVD9, games i keep on a removal hdd but i do sometimes burn isos to dvdr. I don't think there's a game that has to be on DVD9 though, you can usually jiggly things around to make it fit on DVD5s.

Its a farcry ISO I created with all the x64 patches etc on it.

That spudster is not really helping to figure out the problem anyway :P

Rivision DL+R 2.4x with CMC MAG D01 Dye. These have been in the cupboard a long time coz they just wouldnt work on either NEC writer.

Ok, SVP say its faulty media & are arranging a replacement.
I took the french audio out of the farcry ISO & its now burnable on a DVD5.
Also I used a guide here: http://fileforums.com/showthread.php?t= ... t=BioShock to reduce Bioshock to 3.8gig.
You still have to go through the strange install but it works just fine with the crack posted in the release thread.

Thanks for the idea Spudster :beerchug:

Every problem on the face of the earth can be solved by deleting the french

It was definitely faulty disks. They sent me some Datawrite Titanium to replace these & the first burn was a complete success & copies back to drive on all 3 writers :beerchug:

Datawrite Titanium 2.4x + disks (non printable Grey version)....
These are burning at 8x on my NEC writer without any firmware hacks etc.

Definately a bargain
