OK, I've pretty much stopped using CuteFtp, but one site I can't remember the password for, so I connect using CFTP (which has the password), I want to migrate this site to flash fxp, but I can't because I don't know the password, is there anything I can do ?

Do you know, I had the exact same problem, with cute FTP.

But luckily i found out the password.

The only way I can think of, and i used this for people who forgot their internet dial up password. Is to download a program, think i was called camaflauge or something, which when you ran your mouse over a password box it would tell you what the string is!

Doesn't work for XP, becuase of the encryption but it worked for 98 et al.

Can't remember the bloody name of the app

It was definetly an army type name or something.

I'll do a google to check.

maybe some-one here knows of it

have you tried copy and pasting from the password box'******' and seeing if it shows up when pasted to a text? if right click is disabled ctrl-c may do it.
probably wont work with cuteftp, just a thought.

look thru the directory of cuteftp for an *ini file. i know bulletproof ftp server keeps the username/passwords unencrypted in 'users.ini',(because im looking thru mine now, i was curious)

u could also try opening up some of the cuteftp files as text, scroll thru them.

All passwords should be saved from last recovery. If you do that?

Try checking your current registry, and the backup also.
DOn't know if cute fxp uses it though?

What was your state when entering the password?

If drunk, you should be drunk, then think about it.
It could come to you...?

It was a long time ago, also it may not have been you, It was an emulation site (I'm having problems getting the roms for mame 0.75 + 0.76) and Cute FTP hates me ;)
