I'm having trouble viewing some videos in my browser.

Videos from the BBC site and the footy highlights on virginmedia.com would play with audio only. I reinstalled WMP (which these sites use) and it's fine for the BBC now but i still can't watch the damn footy highlights on virgin.

Could someone try them and let me know if it's just me, if it is any idea whats wrong?

Hello john@home. I tried the virgin website with IE and Opera and in both cases a licensing dialog pops up after the comercial is over. The dialog contains two button of which only the "Cancel" button is enabled. :wacky:

So it doesn't really work. I can see the comercial but not the football match highlights.

Btw. the website was perfectly blocked by my PeerGuardian program.

What browser are you using?

When I first clicked that link it crashed my Firefox. :o The second time the video was playing, but I only heared the sound, the image was totally black all the time. When it finished upcame a dialog that told me I should install some DRM components on my PC. And yeah then I clicked that symbol on the top right corner of the window.

Works for me but I'm on Virgin too.
Just install the WMP updates when prompted & bingo. :o

I've tried it in ie, ff and opera.

It used to ask me to accept a license but it doesn't now :?

Is there somewhere i can delete my licenses for WMP?

A week ago a dialog box said i should have at least ie6 and wmp9 which i have, so i'm bloody confused and frustrated!

I didn't realise it was UK only, if it is.

Sorry, shoulda said:

I checked the site for you whilst on vista x64 & whatever browser it uses, IE6?

I've never used WMP on it but after clicking on a random alternate clip on the page (it wouldn't work until I did this) it asked to update WMP something so I did, half expecting it to fire up WMP to play the vids but after the update they instantly played in the browser.

Hope that helps. :)

Incidentally, I never use IE normally but I originally never had any intentions of using that PC on the net except for updates etc., but as I'd ripped the PSU out of the net rig last night I was randomly checking my usual haunts & saw this post.

I give up, i've reinstalled wmp and ie and still wont work.
Strangely enough when i try to view the film trailers on that site they dont show, unless i click 56k or 128k :?

I read somewhere if you didn't have enough BW it would play audio only, i'm on 2mb???

In response to my BW query above, my WMP connection speed was set too low. It was set to 128k instead of T1, changed that and it works.

If it hadn't i was gonna format this weekend. I may do that anyway i've got a 300GB HD to put in

Thanks for the input people :beerchug:
