I have been doing some reading on emule even though I thought I was doing okay on my dl speed but it seems Im not there are people out there who are getting 60-120 kbps on their downloads and the highest I have ever seen on any single download of mine was between 20-30 kbps. I dont know what Im doing wrong I did what you guys told me to do which is just make a big download list and let it do its thing and I have my question is that Im changing the names of the files once they are finished becaue a title like moviename.xvid.shittbusters or what not is really annoying to look at so I change it to specifically what the movie is. Is this causing my files to not get shared as much?? Someone help please ::zombiemoan::

The speed of your download for example depends on:
- How many people you are downloading from at the same time
- What the download settings of those people you download from are (wath bandwith do they dedicate to others)
- What the download limit of your client is set to
- The more fair you play the game (equal bandwith for upload/download) the more credits you will earn and the more likely it is that you get the same file from several sources at once
- ...

I am sure there are many other things that can influence your download speed. These are just some that crossed my mind after having read your post.

I hope I could help. 8)

yes but once the files are downloaded if I change the filename say for instance that I got Evil dead from this site when I finish downloading I change the name to just Evil dead now when someone else clicks that link from this site as well will my copy be uploading even though I changed the name?

Yes since all the references to files are identified by a unique HASH value.
This value is calculated by eMule for the file. If you only change the name the HASH is not changed, so it is like the same file for others out there.
But if you change the contents of the file (remove bad cropping) the file itself is changed and the file is rehashed by the eMule client. So it becomes a new file with a new hash. You will be the only source since it is a completely new file.

But renaming doesn't change the HASH. Renaming is ok.

Couldn't agree more, PlagueH PLEASE don't do that, it makes a real mess of the network, by all means rename it for your own collection, but don't share it with the renamed filename

Ok the tags are there so if someone does an emule search they get an idea of the quality of the rip and if it says shitbusters or grimrippers or one of the well known groups they know that the rip is what it says it is.

As an example my daughter downed Fred Claus and it turned out to be Houdini, why someone renamed that i don't know!

Oh, i missed your 'roger' post when i scrolled through, sorry.

I was referring to the original question, whether people can download the file as it would be the original because of the HASH.

Didn't want to be a role model.
