In rapidshare, is there some way to get around the increasing amount of time that one has to wait until downloading again (for free)? Im up to 100 minutes :P

nice try, but I couldnt get any of those to work...

1. doesnt work

2. im on a router, but if i tried straight from the modem, im pretty sure we're on a fixed ip

3. *might* work, I probably wasnt setting switchproxy up right, found a good list site at http://www.freshproxy.org/ though. i just dont know if the numbers are supposed to go in the HTTP proxy/port in the proxy setup?

4. yikes

5. starts to work, then fails

now that im trying for downloads after getting up to 100 minutes, i think the max wait time IS 100 minutes, so maybe ill just make a schedule to stay on. 8 1/2 hrs for a movie is WAY better than the week or so that it takes for movies with low sources 8)

Just a quick question, what browser are you using?

People have reported it doesn't work in ie.

Youre right, I should have been more thorough... 1 & 5 I tested with IE, so I went back just now and tried both again in Firefox, yet I still got the same results.

#5 would be nice but isnt necessary.

for #1, the popup box appears, I click ok, and nothing happens. im still sitting at the screen that tells you how much time you have to wait again. It seems to me that rapidshare has fixed these exploits since they were last updated (Dec.2006)

Update: being the stubborn and persistent person that I am, when it comes to getting something to work on a computer, I delved further into the dark under belly of rapidshare hacking and all I have to say is holy shit. theres so many blogs that have link bait articles about hacking rapidshare with old techniques from '06/'07. there is also a massive amount of people offering fake files to hack rapidshare by downloading them from rapidshare, giving them premium points for downloads, and the list of people exploiting the need people have for hacking rapidshare goes on and on.. maybe if i was a teen again and I had countless hours to sit around after school and scrummage through everything until I found something that works, I would totally do it. but im not and it isnt that important so ill just cry about it *tear*

Meh, maybe if I find some movies that I absolutely cant wait for. So far ive already got 2 movies in 2 days, both are awesome and that was much faster than waiting a week or two for a nearly dead donkey with low sources. Actually, ive seen a few dead donkeys that are right there for the taking. here are the sites ive come across so far:

What do you mean by the drive is stuck? You can't get the DVD out of it? Look for a little hole on the front cover and press a needle into it - the drive should open then.

When i press the eject button on the side it wont open, it just clicks. It doesn't have a release button (the one you speak of). Also, when I right click on the drive>eject it still clicks.

Sounds like it's broken.

Or the disc is positioned in a vertical angle.

Other causes could be some crappy piece of software keeping your drive in use. Try and eject while booting to eliminate that cause.

Is the front of the drive detachable ?
Sometimes with those flashy models it is... Then again, don't try it . :wacky:

My latest writer was under £10 Sony-NEC optiarc :)

Hit your drive with a brick & your drive will eject & then buy a new one :googley:

there's sometimes a release button on the side, you have to use a pin/needle to eject it.

@optiarc ... the sata one? I bought one of those. Not quite sure what i think of it but i can burn at a reasonably high speed on it.
