I've been playing with the options in BSPlayer and changed the resolution of the file playing which also changed the resolution of my display. When I changed it back the monitor settings had gone crazy, displaying a short fat picture. Try as I might I can't get the picture size quite right, the edges aren't straight and everything is still slightly distorted.

Does anyone know of an easy way of getting the picture centered rather than endlessly fiddling with the monitor settings? Maybe a test card for a monitor? :?

Wouldn't killing the driver and reinstalling it do the trick?

The monitor itself I always leave alone. Got it set the way it needs to be and then after a reformat once I get the drivers installed everything is back to normal.

Did the program change to a higher resolution? Then windows probably lowered the refresh rate and kept that when you changed the resolution back..

Control Panel -> Display settings -> Advanced -> Monitor
(or something like that, i'm not using english windows)

I guess it's 70/72 Hz or something like that. Some monitors doesn't like 70-72, but work fine with either 60, 75, 85 or 100 Hz

60 Hz always work, but i can't stand anything lower than 85 Hz.

I changed the refresh rate to 75 and it looks better now, but the screen still seems slightly bulgy. My fault for buying a cheapo monitor I suppose! Going for a quality flatscreen or TFT next time. Thanks for the suggestions guys 8)
