mplayer

Ok, initially mplayer was a Linux only player. But they started to port it to windows. The windows port still is in early beta stadium and is not too user friendly, yet. Nevertheless, I use it on my gf's notbook under windows. Even though it is for this platform a bit unfinished and not as stable as under Linux, I like it more than all the other windows players with their codec problems. And up to now I never found a (not broken) file which this player was not able to play.

It changes from version to version. I'd say this project is worth to keep an eye on. Should it ever reach the same quality as it has on Linux systems you can forget all other windows players.

yes, idx/sub/srt or even txt.

hxxp://www.koala.pl/

I haven't been able to find any working crack for ver. 2.6, so I stick with version 2.5 (not that many new things in 2.6 anyway)

Try:
Koala_Player_2.6_XP_and_Crack[P_awe_L].zip
Koala_Player_XP_Demo_v2.6_Crack_FIXED_By_Kerstin2K1.zip

Looks like the latter is a fixed crack, implying that the first contains the player but the crack is nuked
