Didn't try the new one, but it looks like the service died. Condolences.
Kerio runs in two parts - one is the firewall itself which runs as a service, and the other is user interface which couldn't connect to the service anymore.
Try (re)starting it:
Start.Run Services.msc (or go through the control panel)
Find Kerio Personal Firewall and check its properties - you can set it up to restart automatically
There may be something in your system logs - did you checked them too?
