I use magic DVD creator, on a DVD-R cd. They play on every computer but every dvd player I try wont read it. If I download roxio will that program work better? Or is this my CD burner thats the problem? The moves I have tried from both torrent and ed2k same outcome.

thanks

1.) There is nothing like a DVD-R cd. Either you have a DVD or a CD.

2.) Roxio is not a program, it is a software developing company. I assume you mean their WinOnCD progie.

How are you burning your movies to the disc? Do you simply burn the files you downloaded?

I found 1 dvd player that playes the dvd's but it has lots of errors throught the dvd when not using on a computer dvd player. I have never made dvd's before other than on mac's so on PC I am new. What program do you use?

I simply burn the AVI files using ImgBurn. My DVD player is capable of playing MPEG-4 (XviD and DivX) video files.

Converting them back to MPEG-2 (DVD) video deteriorates quality and takes too much time I don't have.

Why your DVD players don't play your discs is a good question. If I ever create a DVD with a menu I use TMPEGEnc + TMPEGEnc DVD Author.

I have a modified xbox, it will play pretty much anything that isn't HD. Plays them off of DVDrs, local hard drive or across a network :)

There's a guide to modding one here:

viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15024
It may seem complex, but the hardest bit is buying the memory card and the game, not the modding ;)

I downloaded imgburn and I turned the avi of a horor flick into a iso and then burned the iso but my dvd player on my tv says no disk. Is it more simple than that? I cant understand the program.

Yes it is simpler. You need to set Mode -> Build AND Output -> Device. Now you can directly burn the file to a disc.

Does your DVD player support MPEG-4 (DivX and XviD) files? Maybe it can't read the ones you burn on your own. What DVD player do you have?

Oh I think you misunderstood me. :(

Check this out: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers/sony-dvp-s330/423

It gives you a summary on what your DVD player can play. As we can see it can't play simple AVI (XviD / DivX) files. You have to convert them back to MPEG-2 video using TMPEGEnc and then use TMPEGEnc DVD Author to "convert" the MPEG-2 files into VOB & NFO files that you can burn onto a DVD.

An average movie takes about 5 hours to convert (to 720x576) on my PC.

If you download AVI files often you should get yourself a new one that supports MPEG-4 video. As BlueRay comes simple DVD players will become cheaper.

One thing you should consider is: if you always convert AVIs back to MPEG-2 you'll never be able to reshare a movie for others if you delete the AVI after conversion. :(

Well it does work. It makes the file huge but I guess thats to be expected. One more thing, when im converting to mpg using Tmpgnc scorce creator, it gives me option of ntse 352x480, 352x240, or 720x480. I have no idea what to choose and the cupple I have made seem to be stretched verticly a tad, I can live with it but I wish I knew why.

You should choose the output resolution (720x480, ...) depending on the input material's resolution. If the input video has a low resolution you may go for 352x480. If it is a decent 704xXXX or similar rip you can go for 720x480.

If your input rip is widescreen I would also suggest that you create a rip with the 16:9 output option. That creates an anamorphic mpeg-2 video file. This however is a bit more complicated. You should look for guides on video help or consult the help of TMPEGEnc itself on this.

You can change the aspect ratio, do cropping, noise reduction (not recommended for it is ultra slow) and stuff like that before you start the encoding process.

Sometimes DVD players wont play burned DVD's.

Most of the time you can trick it to work though.

Make sure you're using a dvd and not a dvd-RW.

dvd-RW will never play on a dvd player because its rewritable (RW)

and make sure you're burning a video dvd and not a data dvd.

when all else fails, get nero.
