What's up?

Am getting lots of spyware-remove with adaware-a few days later, it's back.

same types of pop-ups and other garbage. i don't surf garbage sites that would install such things on my computer (besides, I have my internet security set high)

i am thinking that the problem is in Overnet, seeing as how I am nota registered user.

you think?

excuse me if there has already been a thread like this before. too tired to search...

er, are you getting a html popup that says you have spyware? that is something totally different. there is a shit program that runs in background and sends a html popup (it doesnt always look like a html page) that says it detected spyware on your computer. the one is saw was yellow. it tries to install its own shit. 'drive by downloads' it does.

i get all freakymad about spyware stuff, progs i use frequently are
webroot windows washer
webroot spysweeper
spybot pro search and destroy
spycop
anti trojan 5.5
trojan hunter
tiny trojan trap(lets u see what files are accessing what-dll files, etc)
Diagnose Windows
lavasoft ad aware

i use these pretty much every day constantly.
-bluetack blocklist manager
bluetack.co.uk
this updates peerguardian and a shitload of other bad ip/spyware/ads
-surf in peace
this lets u really fine tune the popups you want blocked. if u want my popup list, i can post it and its easy to add to surf in peace.
http://www.iconlabs.net
-reg cleaner
hxxp://www.jv16.org/
easy editing of your registry, u can ditch the extra crap, like timelimits on registering progs, spywareshit. may not want to mess with your registry if u dont know what your doing.

the '-' are freeware, great progs.

Yeah, that's what it is.

I am thinking that it's Overnet seeing as how I'm not a registered user.

Ah well, I am gonna switch to mIRC. Faster download speeds, more files.

mirc has it's own set of problems.
i avoid it.
err, most the spycrap can be removed with the above progs.
i hope you use a firewall, if not you should.

overnet only has spyware if u specifically check the boxes to install during installation, else it is just adverts
