it is basicly a virualdub replacement, though unlike vdub/nandub it is still in development and getting new features and fixes and stuff.

So just load teh mkv, set to copy for video and audio and mkv for container and disable the audio tracks you want removed and save the file. There is a de-interlace filter you can run... works perfectly, but you will need to rencode... it has a encoder built in fot h.256 or w/e the number is

I love the mkv container, its so easy to work with. I do the removal of audio tracks from the command line.

I do this all the time since for some reason german dubbers seem to release more 720p/1080p hdtv rips of older movies.

Code:
jbriggs@jbriggs-media:~/Downloads/complete/Movies/tron-720p$ ls -l
total 7102224
-rw-r--r-- 1 jbriggs jbriggs 7272671016 2010-11-02 22:54 Tron.1982.German.DL.720p.OAR.HDTV.x264-msd.mkv
jbriggs@jbriggs-media:~/Downloads/complete/Movies/tron-720p$ mkvmerge -i Tron.1982.German.DL.720p.OAR.HDTV.x264-msd.mkv
File 'Tron.1982.German.DL.720p.OAR.HDTV.x264-msd.mkv': container: Matroska
Track ID 1: video (V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC)
Track ID 2: audio (A_AC3)
Track ID 3: audio (A_AC3)
Track ID 4: subtitles (S_TEXT/UTF8)
Track ID 5: subtitles (S_TEXT/UTF8)

Here you see the 2 audio tracks and the subs, so in this circumstance I want to ditch the german (I hate you dubbers!), so i simply issue:
Code:
jbriggs@jbriggs-media:~/Downloads/complete/Movies/tron-720p$ mkvmerge -o TRON.1982.720p.OAR.HDTV.x264-RECODE.mkv --no-subs --atracks 3 Tron.1982.German.DL.720p.OAR.HDTV.x264-msd.mkv
mkvmerge v3.0.0 ('Hang up your Hang-Ups') built on Dec 29 2009 00:24:14
'Tron.1982.German.DL.720p.OAR.HDTV.x264-msd.mkv': Using the Matroska demultiplexer.
'Tron.1982.German.DL.720p.OAR.HDTV.x264-msd.mkv' track 1: Using the MPEG-4 part 10 (AVC) video output module.
'Tron.1982.German.DL.720p.OAR.HDTV.x264-msd.mkv' track 1: Extracted the aspect ratio information from the MPEG-4 layer 10 (AVC) video data and set the display dimensions to 1280/560.
'Tron.1982.German.DL.720p.OAR.HDTV.x264-msd.mkv' track 3: Using the AC3 output module.
The file 'TRON.1982.720p.OAR.HDTV.x264-RECODE.mkv' has been opened for writing.
Progress: 2%

Basically you use:
-atracks = specifies the audio track numbers to keep, comma sperated iirc
-no-subs = dumps all subs

You'd unmux the video to a raw video stream, process it and then mux it back in..

mkv tools - includes mkvmux
mkv tools gui - frontend

You can google for them, but its very simple especially if you use the gui.

that deinterlacing i just gave up... it stated 335min until it was done, then when there was 76min left the fucking computer froze!!!.. i just cant be arsed to start all over again.. with 335min!! on a fuckng 700mb file!... WTF!...

when it comes to mkv's i use a program called tsMuxeR_1.10.6.. very easy to remove unwanted audio/subs, muxing is done in 1min or less on a 8gb file!!, thats what i call speed... check it out here -> http://www.videohelp.com/tools/tsMuxeR/old-versions

...and yeah i am testing out a ps3, where mkv is not supported standalone, but another container called ts is, ps3 works great with the ts format..

i understand now why your crazy for hd movies, spud.. i have tryed a few myself 720p/4.30gb and 1080p/7.30gb file, the movies are crisp and awsome! but its pain in the butt to download 8gb files...

anyway thanks for the input and help... :beerchug:

the torrent aint the problem... i dont have fast enough internet connection, if i had a 20gb connection there would not be any problem, but i dont have that... so grabbing 8gb files feels like starting all over with the slow emule again..
