hmm seems weird....so you have your desktop image actually on the TV but then you try and play a movie and the TV screen goes black and then plays the movie on your PC?
when i use my laptop TV out i get up display properties then settings/advanced and then onto the tv/gfx card section and tell it to swap over form the laptop monitor to a TV screen by ticking the option box...click apply and the laptop screen goes black and the tv pic comes live with the desktop image then i play the movie from there with bsplayer or my preferred player
but i won't be doing it for much longer cuz amazon is sending me one of these babies next week WoOoOoHoOo

Yep, you're right Spud! There are 3 solutions:
1. Set TV as primary display, monitor as second.
2. Install DirectX 9, and select "Video mixing renderer 9" (VRM9) in zoomplayer.
(Prefs -> Filter Control -> Standard media playback -> VMR9)
3. Only use one display at the same time and use a hotkey to switch between them.

When I use tv-out on the laptop (Mobility Radeon 9000), I set it up for multiple monitors and then select "theatre mode" under the overlay tab. Whatever player I use it always shows fullscreen on the tv, but remains minimized on the laptop, so I can do whatever on the laptop and still watch the movie on the tv. If I remember correctly if the tv monitor is not active (I can easily set up a hotkey to enable the second monitor if it doesn't show up automatically when I start up the laptop, so I don't have to go into settings) or if "theatre mode" is not selected it results in a blackscreen.

I just plug it in and it works, but that might be because I'm using an ATI radeon 9800 XT. Monitor primary, tv secondary, overlay "is automatically activated when video is played"

thanx all together. it works for me now. had to select the theatre mode.
really like the quality on the tv. wanted to buy such a divxfit-dvdplayer too, but i think it isn?t really necessary considering codec updates. really satisfied with tv-out!
cheers!
