Both, Emule (for me anyway) will always try and fill as many connections as I give it (my router will deal with ~270) if I'm doing anything else (browsing, irc, ftp) etc then emule will kill the connction and force the other app to re-connect.

ah i see where your meaning.

In stats it says "average connections: 487" and "peak connections: 789". I reset my stats every week or so, but I mean i don't think it has any problems, its mostly downloading at full rate and uploading at 20ish (although it seems to be fluctuating recently).

erm
Draytek Vigor2500
Ultra cheap :p

On ADSL. Maybe it does have a nat connection limit, but if it does, I think i can't reach it on 512, will be upgrading to 2mbit at the end of the month (at last), so i'm hoping it holds out then if it does have a limit.

Yes, it doesn't matter how high the limit is set, but how many actual connections there actually are at the given moment.

I have a friend with a cheapo Belkin who's downloading 50 pr0ns simultaneously and it kept hanging (router, not friend) until I set his max. connections to 240. It still hangs sometimes, but it's much, much better than before and download speed isn't affected that much.
