Hi :)

I downloaded a movie the other day and I think I'm having a codec problem the screen appears all green so I d/l this program called
AVI Four CC Changer and it didn't really do anything is there any other programs out there like this?

Also can someone let me know how the releases are spreading so I can release others?
The ones currently being shared are The Hills Have Eyes, Slumber Party Massacre 2 and Jack Frost 2-The Killer Snowman
Thanks
Kat

Arrrghh... Why didn't I know about this one? I am looking for ages for part one. And now you say you have part 2. Link?

You don't have part 1, too?

Oh dear - Katya you didn't get the message in the other thread

suppose it's my fault

You'd better put Jack frost 2 back on ice for the time being ; for slumber party 2 is going slower than anticipated...ehm...you do have it on RELEASE proirity ?
Last time I looked there are a dozen of us, most between 200-400 mb so give this one another week or two at most at it will float

As for hills , someone else had better awnser......though I'm sure it's spread by now..

Argh, I've just noticed SPM2 diappeared from my download list - had a few system crashes recently. Why can't all those mods automatically use the part.met.bak files they make when a file gets corrupted!? Now I have to download it from the beginning.

Dear Katya, again - for codec questions we usually use the help section. Could somebody move this topic?

Not really a problem. Someday I will have it. Even now I have only seen about 50% of all films I downloaded. Ok, I started the download anyways, let's see how far I get. I don't care having films several month in my list getting 1% every other week. :-)

The worst thing is, Katya remembered me, that I was looking for Jack Frost at the wrong time. Just checked and found part 1. Doing now the unthinkable: downloading the *cough, retch* german dubbed version.

tnx. I've been looking for that too!

as for the codec problem, go to divx-digest.com and get the program called G-Spot. This will tell you what codec a file uses and if you need to install it or allready have it.

Trying to play a new xvid film, on an old codec will usually give a green screen like you described. go to http://nic.dnsalias.com/ to get the latest.

Good joke. I'd prefer a version without sound at all or mongolian backwards to a mst3k cripple :-)

ah,
that mst3k of 'jack frost' is a finnish/russian fairy tale decades old, and i assume you want the one about a killer snowman, not the one with father winter and the mushroom gnome.

Hihi, I remember a certain site admin who had this film in his main film list until a certain someone who was at this not registered here mailed him about his mistake ;-)

@Katya, I have had this problem with a green screen before and usually it is with a film with an xvid codec, there is more than 1 version of this codec and i have problems sometimes.

SPM2 i have sofar got about 440MB and is coming quite slowly
THHE is coming much faster about 490MB (but in half the time)

This poses an interesting question: What players are you using. For me under Linux it is naturally mplayer. But if I watch movies on my gf's notebook (win 98) it is: mplayer. Since they released their windows version I never had problems with codecs again. Of course it is a bit clumsy to use: no gui, but ususally I don't fiddle much with guis while watching anyways.

Its FFDshow:

c:\program files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe

then load up your xvid video using file>open
now go to file>properties>advanced>ffdshow>properties

then uncheck xvid playback, this will let the xvid codec decode and you won't have any problems then.

Thanks Guys !

okay I will add Jack Frost 1 to my share
all of these movies are on release priority
I removed everything but these movies to my shared folder thinking that will make it easier for you downloading from me

Sorry I keep posting in the wrong section, I have the attention span of a flea

polityk, your ok.

say, you may want to try zoomplayer. its pretty versatile, plays a lot of files my other players wont play. i dont use it cause i dislike the interface, but its still supposed to be one of the better ones.
