Last night during a chat with MS, it crashed three times...
Ms thought he's responsible for trying a Whois.....
But during a movie encoding the G******** thing just gave me the same error !:
(summarised)
....generic host Process caused an error.....
If you were busy with something you might have lost data... ( )

Our appologies for this...( :rage: :matrix: )
then a errorous popup:" NT Authority\system " or something and " RPC Remote Procedure Call service has seized functioning......automatic shutdown in 50 secs....."

AAAARRGGHH :matrix: :matrix: :matrix:

What is this shit !?!? Anybody Using Xppro know this ?

well.
1. Drivers, installed u new drivers last days?
2. There is new Virus, that causes random reboots.
it|s appered yesterday at first. if comp is under virus - your comp begins atacking site microsoft.com and causes random reboots.
check with antivirus software with new database.
3. See in System Events - there must be something, some errors shown. knowing their code - we can maybe solve it.

Oh - it's swarming with errors and warnings under the apps tab:
most common :
application hang cat 101 event number 1002
application error event number 1000
and many many warnings..: event system catagory 52 event number 4354

nothing under security but one error under system, service controll manager ...event code 7031

this any help ?

well.
1001 and 1000 r like u wrote applications errors and hangouts.
well u can disable that applications. which gives such errors codes.

and the main
4354 - com+ errors of MSN.
that means, your MSN is bitching..
well, possible solutions -
1. stop that loosy programm and such service and use Trillian.
2. or upgrade MSN.
3. or reinstall.

well, about 7031... there is no such error...
maybe u wrote it wrong? and there is another number?

conclusion: seems that MSN is your ass-pain (99%).
solutions - above.

ohhh. the plot thickens.....

I already disabled that crap some time ago.....

AND THERE IS INDEED A number 7031 EVENT ERROR given in SYSTEM logs......exactly on the moments of the fatal popup "system gonna reboot in 50 secs"
Really it's right in front of me between all those normal 7035 & 7036 events !

As for simply reinstalling something......everybody always borrows from ME.....now guess who doesn't have a xp in the house when you need one.... :x

Don't dare to download- thing just rebooted again - had to copy and paste !!!

EDIT : oww...HANG ON ...preceding the first crash by a few hours is a warning -source plugNplay manager- event number 257......when I look deeper at description there is this C: windows\explorer.exe bitch in the spotlight

man, in that case i can say yet some thingz-
well, u disabled.. but i am pretty sure it's still loaded.
just uninstall it. completely.
yet one. u checked your comp?
no viruses?
as i said there is virus that makes exactly what u wrote.
and yet 1 thing...
well, maybe after some errors some files became corrupted.
that could happen.
so 1 solution in that case - repair instalation of winXP or reintall.

ah forgot, when memory is dying (well, it can happen)
u got the saim problems. many errors and reboots.
but at first - better check software problems.
just try to remove programms from StartUp and from registry sturtup.
disable no needed services.
and try to lunch them 1 by 1 and see what process or service or soft causes reboots.

TRIUMPHANT AGAIN HE RODE TOWARDS THE SUN..........

did a online check....and it filtered out some MALWARE bugger...

Indulge me and check this: http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusen ... _MSBLAST.A

WORM_MSBLAST.A is what it found.....

And now something bizarre : Just a "coincidence" that I yesterday also finished and watched SQUIRM , a horror movie about.......WORMS !
Can viruses already hide and be activated in/while playing a movie ? are we that far already ? I'd be the death of file sharing !!!!

well. if that is WMV it can make many thingz..
so anyway, if u rename it to mpg and still run with WMP - it's still can run some "code" that can be inserted.
about that worm.
it has inside code
"I just want to say LOVE YOU SAN"
that's why it's called LOVSAN.
and yet one sentence
"Billy gates why do you make this possible? Stop making money and fix your software!"
lol.
well. THAt virus, when infected machine try to get access to random machine using exploit using ports 135, 69 and 4444.
well, now your machine is atacking windowsupdate.com
DoS atcack. if u will be lucky your machine can make that site down!
lol.
as i said that virus CAUSES random reboots.
that is your problem..
well. all machines that run under win2000 or winXP on my work r under that virus now. lol
exept mine and Admin's
cuz i use firewall.. and ffs i closed 135 port long time ago...

well. all u need now - is clean your comp from that virus

well, try that pacth from micro$hit -
ftp://ftp.cert.dfn.de/pub/vendor/micros ... 86-ENU.exe
it will close hole in your system.. well.. anyway u still will need to remove virus.

RPC stands for remote procedure call, it is being exploited by a new internet virus, forcing your system to crash. You might not have this virus, but it is attacking your pc.

Use kerio firewall and close ports 135-139 and 445, both local and remote UDP + TCP.

Run a windows update and install this patch:
http://microsoft.com/downloads/details. ... laylang=en

Your pc will no longer reboot.

i have a gold disc copy of xp and i can run updates fine, that link also works.
Close port 135-139 and 445 anyway and you won't get this crap

If you aren't doing that for whatever reason, and you just want your pc to stay on, change the service to restart rather than restart your pc. run> services.msc > RPC

Just out of pure curiosity: How do you think a router can protect you from viruses?

Norton has a patch to remove msblast, and their is also a windows update to permanently fuck that little git. I have no URLs cos I just removed it from a friends PC, but never noted any of the URL's.

You must install the MS patch tho, I htink maybe it is somehow protected by the OS, like system protection thingy, cos it kept coming back until I applied the MS patch.

Once again wargand takes great delight trying to make me look like an idiot....... :matrix:

Ofcourse my router don't protect me from a virus.....
What I meant with not like any of em are software firewalls....
my router has a firewall wich can't be turned off unless you go thru some risky flashing........there's no official firmware update for it...

Oh spare me the rest.....

Anyway applied the patch used two different tools ....going stable now for well over an hour.....

Sorry, though it may look so, it was not really my intention. However, I always get a bit nervous when I read such uncorrect statements. Maybe you really know what you are doing and you were simply too lazy to explain more correctly. But since yesterday I am reading in Telepolis about two cases where two men on whose computers child porn was found were found not guilty because they claimed the pictures were downloaded whithout their knowledge by tojans. So far so bad. But in the discussion about this case several times the opinion appeared "This could not happen to my. My router protects me". Therefore I try to be a bit more careful when I talk about computer security. There is always a chance that a less knowledgable person is reading and might get wrong ideas. And what you wrote could have been interpreted that your router is protecting you from viruses. Sorry.
